The 6-foot-4.5, 303-pounder and No. 1 ranked offensive tackle prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking will announce his decision September 24.

The No. 2 ranked prospect in the state of California in the 2024 cycle will choose out of Texas, Oregon, Ohio State and Nebraska.

Baker began the recruiting process as a heavy lean to Oregon. While the Ducks have continued to be one of the top two mentioned along with Texas, he hasn’t been on campus in Eugene since May 20. Since that time he has made visits to Ohio State, Texas and Georgia.

The Longhorns have hosted Baker and family twice since mid-April. The first visit was for the Longhorns’ Spring Game.

Baker’s official visits

Baker made three official visits in June. He tripped to Ohio State June 9-11, Texas June 16-18 and Georgia June 23-25.

Only the Buckeyes and Longhorns remain in the mix among the trio of June official visits.

A fourth, and final official visit by Baker prior to announcing a decision will be to Nebraska September 15-17. The is the lone bye week of the season for Mater Dei High.

Coming out of the June official visits there were three schools being mentioned the most. Oregon, Texas and Ohio State. That has remained the same.

Baker on the Texas official visit

Inside Texas caught up with the 5-star tackle at Bergstrom Airport following his official visit. Baker and family spent a lot of time with Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood June 16-18.

“Visit went good for the most part,” Baker told IT June 18. “I liked the camaraderie with the team and I liked how comfortable they are entering this new season.”

Interactions with Sarkisian stood out to the 6-foot-4.5, 285-pounder.

“Really, just being able to be comfortable,” Baker said. “Obviously, he’s from the West Coast so he knows what it is, but he honestly feels like Texas really feels like home. It’s not really too much going on. I feel the same way.”

Baker spoke with Flood, who compared him to Jedrick Wills and Kelvin Banks. He described that meeting as a highlight.

“I had some time to sit down with him today,” Baker said. “That was pretty cool seeing who he compared me to and what he believes he can do with me.”

The University of Texas had the home away from home feeling in late June.

“Really feels like a home away from home, honestly,” Baker said. “I have a lot of family here. My dad has a lot of family here. It feels really comfortable here. The only thing I would say is tough to get used to is the weather.”

What will be the biggest factors in this recruitment?

“Checking all the boxes for me: development, education, and the family environment,” Baker said. “Checking off all those boxes and seeing what plusses or minuses I have at the end of the day.”

Oregon leads Texas in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Ducks currently sit at 52.5% with the Longhorns at 23.8%.
