Clemson alters series schedule vs. Boston College due to inclement weather

Due to inclement weather in the forecast on Friday evening, the Clemson Tigers have decided to move up their baseball game vs. Boston College on Friday, May 17th. The game was originally slated for a 6:00 PM EST start, but it has been moved up to 1:00 PM EST, according to a press release issued by the Clemson athletic department.

The Tigers and Eagles are still expected to conclude the series on Saturday at noon, with the Senior Day ceremony set to begin at 11:30 AM EST.

Clemson and Boston College were in a battle on Thursday night. The Eagles jumped out to an early lead, but the Tigers managed to fight back a bit. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Boston College had the edge over Clemson 8-6.

The Tigers’ Jimmy Obertop blasted his 17th home run of the season when he launched a three-run shot in the bottom of the third inning. That cut the Eagles lead to 6-4. Boston College tacked on another two runs in the fourth, pushing their lead to 8-4.

Clemson ended up tying the game at 8-8 in the fifth inning, after Tristan Bissetta and Jack Crighton crossed home plate to knot it up. There was an error by Boston College, which allowed both of the Tigers’ runners to score. Then in the top of the eighth inning, the Eagles took the lead again after Cameron Leary sent a deep shot over the center field wall. That made the score 10-9, BC.

Clemson slugger Cam Cannarella delivered a pivotal HR

Then, in the bottom of the eighth, Clemson slugger Cam Cannarella launched a pivotal three-run blast into the night sky. That flipped the tables and put the Tigers ahead 12-10, much to the delight of the Clemson dugout. His teammates all gathered near home plate to greet him after he trotted the bases.

They would finish it off in the 9th inning, coming away with the comeback victory, 12-10. The Tigers moved to 38-13 overall and 18-10 in the ACC. It was their 22nd comeback victory this year.

Austin Gordon threw the final strikeout for the Tigers with a 97 mile per hour fastball. He got the save for Clemson, giving him his ninth save this year. Both teams will take the field on Friday at 1:00 PM EST to try and get ahead of the weather.
