Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Neville Gallimore leaves game Friday

Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Neville Gallimore was seen heading toward the locker room in the first quarter of Friday’s preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Gallimore audd left arm was heavily wrapped as he headed to the locker room. NFL Network’s Ian Rapport reported Gallimore suffered a hypertension of his left elbow. In a lot of pain, the defensive lineman will learn the severity of the injury Saturday with an MRI.

Dallas selected Gallimore in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft. The former Oklahoma Sooners defensive lineman started nine games this past season, recording four tackles for loss and four quarterback hits.

Hopefully the second-year player won’t have to miss much time. Gallimore was starting to make strides in his second season, according to coach Mike McCarthy.

“Neville has taken a huge jump this offseason,” McCarthy told Cowboys reporter David Hellman. “His biggest strides have been in the weight room, his strength and conditioning. He’s in tremendous shape,” McCarthy said. “He’s had a tremendous, tremendous offseason.”

Neville Gallimore went to the College Football Playoff in all four of his seasons with the Sooners. He had four sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss as a senior. He told Hellman he was confident he would make a leap in his second year in the league.

“I want to be that guy allowing myself to play faster,” he said. “I’ve still got a long way to go, but it’s the little things I see, the light at the end of the tunnel where it’s like once everything clicks, I’ll get to a point where the only person who can stop me is me.”

Cowboys and Sooners fans alike will anxiously await the update on Gallimore. His aspirations for both this season and beyond are quite large.

“In the back of my mind I know how special I can be,” he said. “I look at guys who play my position who have played 5-6 years, 9-10 years, Pro Bowls and that motivates me.”
