The Dallas Cowboys have released their official Friday injury report with less than 48 hours before kickoff vs. the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The most notable player listed is defensive end Randy Gregory, although as John Machota mentions, the Cowboys expect their star pass rusher to be available on Sunday.

Mike McCarthy addressed Gregory’s return in a press conference this week.

Beyond the positive development with Gregory set to take the field, the Cowboys will be without two defensive starters, a common theme so far this season.

As of Thursday, the Dallas injury situation is unclear with safety Donovan Wilson and defensive lineman Carlos Watkins. Now it’s known neither will be available against the Panthers.

With injuries hampering their defense, the status of their starters will be important to monitor as they prepare for Sunday. Rookie Micah Parsons worked at linebacker on Thursday. Linebacker Keanu Neal and defensive end Bradlee Anae remain on the Cowboys’ COVID-19 list.

The Panthers will likely be without a pair of injured players for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.

Running back Christian McCaffrey is out and defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos has been declared doubtful on the final injury report submitted to the league.

McCaffrey’s expected to miss a few weeks with last week’s hamstring strain, while Gross-Matos is getting closer to returning to action. Although nobody roots for injury, Dan Quinn and the Dallas Cowboys defense won’t have to face one of the most dynamic offensive threats in the NFL.

He has practiced on a limited basis this week, after suffering an ankle injury in Week 2 against the Saints.

Right guard John Miller is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, and he was limited Friday. Wide receiver Shi Smith was added to the report Friday for non-injury related issue.

Otherwise, everyone on the list for injury reasons was a full participant Friday, and has no status on the report. That group includes wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. (thumb), cornerback CJ Henderson (groin), left tackle Cameron Erving (knee) and linebacker Shaq Thompson.

Both NFC teams entered the year with tempered expectations, and both have emerged as legitimate NFC contenders heading into Week 4. Despite injuries on both squads, NFL fans should be in for a treat.
