Denver Broncos to make a move at quarterback for Sunday's game

The Denver Broncos are running short on options as the quarterback position following the injury to starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater this past Sunday. And with his status up in the air after suffering a concussion against the Cincinnati Bengals, Denver plans on starting former starting quarterback Drew Lock against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to veteran NFL reporter Chris Mortensen.

Perhaps more surprising, per Mortensen, Bridgewater has been telling those close to him that he’s okay following a stay in the hospital last night despite the devastating look of the injury and being carted off the field with his facemask removed.

Bridgewater was injured late in the third quarter after suffering a hit from Bengals defensive end BJ Hill. On the play, Bridgewater scrambled and dove for the first down on second-and-five. Hill made simultaneous contact with the back of the Broncos quarterback as he went down to the ground. Bridgewater smashed helmet first into the ground losing the ball upon contact and, laid there motionless, out cold.

Needless to say, it was a scary scene as he had to be placed on a stretcher in carted off the field. Bridgewater left the game going 12 for 22 passing with 98 yards through the air.

It’s not the first time the Broncos starting quarterback has left the game with a concussion this season. Earlier in the year, Bridgewater was locked out of the Broncos’ week-4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. While he did not finish that game, he was able to play the following week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case with this concussion after spending Sunday night in the hospital.

Peyton Manning could be back with Denver

The Denver Broncos of the NFL are for sale, and Peyton Manning is interested in partial ownership. Per a report from CBS Sports, the NFL legend could have a piece of the franchise, as well as a potential management position.

Manning played for Denver from 2012-15, leading the team to Super Bowl appearances in 2013 and 2015. The Broncos won in 2015, which would end up as Manning’s final season in the NFL. He and his family still live in Denver even after his retirement.

The legendary quarterback has already reportedly had conversations with several groups that are favorites to land the team. Several sources told CBS that a new owner is expected to be on board by October of 2022.

The deal is expected to set the example for other owners who might be interested in selling their franchise. Depending on how much the Broncos go for, others may try to top that. David Tepper purchased the Carolina Panthers for a whopping $2.3 billion in 2018. Some believe that based on increased interest in the league, the Broncos could go for even more.
