Packers make roster moves following Seahawks win
The Green Bay Packers just announced their first roster moves of the week after a shutout victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The Packers will activate quarterback Kurt Benkert from their practice squad ahead of this week’s matchup against NFC North rival, the Minnesota Vikings. Benkert was placed on the Packers’ reserve slash COVID-19 list before the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, along with Aaron Rodgers.
Now that their third quarterback is back and available, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst announced Green Bay would be moving on from Blake Bortles. Green Bay signed Bortles shortly after losing two of their three quarterbacks to the reserve/COVID-19 list. The former first-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars was activated for the game against the Kansas City Chiefs as the backup to Jordan Love. With Rodgers coming back just in time for the Seahawks game this past Sunday, there was no need for the Packers to activate him from their practice squad for a second week in a row. And now that Benkert is back and available, his services are no longer needed by the Packers.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his return to the field after missing last week because of COVID-19 protocols. He went 23-of-37 passing for 292 yards and an interception.
Packers lose a star in the win
The Green Bay Packers believe running back Aaron Jones suffered an MCL sprain, per an injury update from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He is expected to undergo further testing to confirm and determine the severity of the injury.
Jones exited the game in the second half against Seattle after having accumulated 25 yards on seven carries. AJ Dillon took over lead back duties and finished with 21 carries for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
