Green Bay Packers place starting center on injured reserve
The Green Bay Packers have placed center Josh Myers on injured reserve, per NFL reporter Dov Kleiman. The rookie second-round pick left a Week 6 contest against Chicago on the first series with a knee injury.
He also missed Week 5 against the Bengals with a finger injury. The team said earlier in the week that Myers’ injury is not expected to be season-ending, so he will likely return later in the year.
Players placed on injured reserve are not eligible to play for the next three weeks of action. Following this rule, Myers will have his first chance to return on Nov. 14 against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Packers are in the midst of a five-game winning streak after beginning the season with a Week 1 loss to New Orleans. They earned a 24-14 road win against the Bears this past week.
The offense has started to click in recent weeks as defending MVP Aaron Rodgers has looked like his usual self. The quarterback recently was 17-of-23 for 195 yards passing and three total touchdowns against Chicago.
He has passed for 1,436 yards, 12 touchdowns and three interceptions through the first six games. Two of those interceptions came in Week 1, as Rodgers is posting an incredible 12:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio since then. He appears on track for another impressive year and a chance to take Green Bay deep into the postseason.

Now Rodgers will have to maneuver with a little less protection with Josh Myers on injured reserve. Veteran offensive lineman Lucas Patrick is set to replace him at center.
Myers earned second-team All-American honors in 2020, and was named a first-team All-Big Ten player. An Ohio native, he was regarded as one of the top prospects in the state coming out of high school.
The Packers will look to keep their winning streak alive despite the knee injury to their center when they face Washington at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Kevin King, as well as tackle Dennis Kelly, missed Week 6. Alexander and Kelly will certainly not play in Week 7, while King is listed as questionable along with safety Darnell Savage and linebacker Preston Smith.
