Jerry Jones gives injury update on Cowboys' Tyron Smith, Trevon Diggs
The Cowboys will more than likely have a couple of key players available for Sunday’s matchup with the Patriots.
Left tackle Tyron Smith and cornerback Trevon Diggs will play against New England, assuming they get the appropriate amount of rest in the coming days, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced.
“There’s no being coy about it,” Jones said, per Jane Slater of ESPN.
Smith was added to the team’s injury report yesterday with a neck issue, a recurring problem for him. He was limited in yesterday’s practice and underwent an MRI, although the test was described as precautionary, per Calvin Watkins of the Dallas News. The All-Pro tackle underwent neck surgery last season, missing 14 games.
Smith is a seasoned veteran and anchor on a star-studded Dallas offensive line. The former USC tackle was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
Injury-plagued Dallas is already down a tackle with La’el Collins, who is suspended for violating the NFL’s drug policy, out.
Diggs, who has terrorized opposing offenses this year notching at least one interception in every game, suffered an ankle injury this week.
“I feel good. I’m still taking it day by day, just going to see how I feel,” Diggs said Friday. “Yeah I mean you’re going to get little nicks and bruises. It’s nothing for real. It is what is.”

Colorado stars to make NFL Draft history
The wide receiver turned defensive back leads the NFL with six picks on the year, three more than the three players in second place. The second-year player also has 18 tackles and 10 passes defended on the season. He is clearly in the Defensive Player of the Year running.
Solid Patriots defense to meet electric Cowboys offense
Diggs will look to cause additional havoc this weekend against offense run by his former Alabama teammate and Patriots starting quarterback Mac Jones.
The rookie and his team are a couple of possessions away from being 4-1 as New England continues to struggle navigating its schedule in the post-Tom Brady era. Jones has struggled with interceptions this season; he has five touchdowns and as many picks through five games.
On the other side of the ball, a New England defense allowing just 317.6 yards per game (fifth in the NFL) will meet a high-powered Dallas offense averaging 439.6 yards per game (second in the NFL).
Dallas, who has won four consecutive games after losing their season opener, is 3-point favorite in Foxboro. The game kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
