Josh Gordon makes decision on home for 2022 season
Veteran NFL receiver Josh Gordon has found a new home in the league, announcing his decision to sign a new contract for the 2022 NFL season. The 30-year-old receiver announced that he had signed a new deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday, expressing his excitement and love for the team.
Josh Gordon makes decision to stay with Kansas City
Gordon joined the Chiefs last season after serving an indefinite suspension in Dec. 2019 for violating the NFL’s policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse. After failing to be re-instated by the NFL in 2020, Gordon was finally re-instated by the league near the end of the 2021 season, signing with the Chiefs in Oct. 2021.
Gordon hadn’t played since the 2019 season in which he split time between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. He had 27 catches for 426 yards and 1 touchdown that season in 11 games. With the Chiefs last year in limited time, he caught just five passes for 32 yards and a touchdown.
“KC right where I wanna be! Ain’t gon lie. I’m hype for 2022,” wrote Gordon about his decision.
After a promising start to his career, Gordon’s struggles to stay out of trouble have caused him to miss significant time on the field. His previous suspension that forced him to miss nearly two years was a result of his sixth-time failing the league’s substance policy. His second season in the league remains his greatest, as he caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and 9 touchdowns.

His 2013 season earned him first-team All-Pro honors, and he appeared to be on pace for an outstanding career. Unfortunately, just two seasons later he was serving a suspension that would keep him out for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
The Chiefs are hoping the talent that Gordon has will show itself again with some more time to play under their system, giving Patrick Mahomes another offensive weapon alongside Tyreek Hill. For Gordon, being on a stable franchise that wants him to be an impact player seems like a perfect fit as he continues his comeback.
