Raiders rookie defensive back issued speed citation weeks after DUI
Two weeks after he was charged with DUI, Las Vegas Raiders rookie cornerback Nate Hobbs was issued a citation for speeding. According to NBC Sports, the first-year player was stopped at 11:45 a.m. Sunday for driving 110 mph in a 65-mph zone.
Hobbs was not arrested, but his car was towed. He is scheduled for a court appearance in April.
The rookie was previously arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge on Jan. 3, hours after the Raiders defeated the Indianapolis Colts in a crucial AFC matchup. Las Vegas police said in a statement they found Hobbs asleep in his car on the exit ramp of a parking garage. He failed a field sobriety test.
His arrest came just weeks after then-Las Vegas receiver Henry Ruggs was arrested for a DUI crash in which a woman died.
Ruggs was immediately released from the team following the incident. The former Raiders receiver is currently on house arrest as he awaits a March 10 preliminary hearing date. If he is found guilty on all charges, he could face more than 50 years behind bars.

Hobbs remained with the team following his Jan. 3 incident. He played in 16 games for Las Vegas this season and even started in nine, despite being a rookie. The fifth round pick out of Illinois recorded 74 tackles, three passes defended, and an interception.
The Raiders saw their season end this past week after a 26-19 loss to Cincinnati in the wild card round of the playoffs. It was their first postseason appearance since 2016. Hobbs did not record any stats from that contest.
Hopefully the Raiders rookie is able to use the DUI and speeding ticket as learning experiences and grow from them. He clearly has plenty of talent and can make an impact for this team in the future so long as he manages to stay out of trouble.
