It was a rough night all around for the Stafford family on Monday. While Matt was having one of his worst games as a member of the Los Angeles Rams, his wife was caught throwing a soft pretzel at a trash-talking 49ers fan.

According to TMZ Sports, Kelly Stafford was in the stands on Monday night for the drubbing of the Rams at the hands of the 49ers. As her husband struggled and the game was getting out of hand, Kelly hit her breaking point — throwing the pretzel in what she called a “weak moment.”

After the game, Kelly responded to a fan calling her out for the moment on Instagram.

“I’m an idiot,” Kelly wrote. “He was saying a bunch of things that were aggressive towards our crew but zero excuse. I tried to apologize, but in the end I knew I was wrong. Will always stand up for my guy and everyone I love, but obviously needed to do it completely different. I’m embarrassed too! Sorry you had to witness me in my weak moment!”

Since hearing of the incident, TMZ contacted the Santa Clara Police Dept., Levi’s Stadium security and Matt Stafford’s agent. So far, all three entities were either unaware of the incident, or declined comment.

Nobody will blame Kelly Stafford for being salty about her husband’s performance on Monday. However, she may think twice before using a pretzel to showcase it if it happens again.

49ers shutdown Stafford, defeat Rams 31-10

Moreover, Monday’s game against the 49ers was supposed to be good vibes for the Rams. With star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and star defender Von Miller both active, an exciting race to the finish was unfolding for Los Angeles.

However, the team put up arguably their worst performance of the season against San Francisco. An opening drive interception of Stafford set the tone, and the 49ers never looked back.

In the end, Stafford had one of his worst stat lines of the season. In the 31-10 loss, the MVP candidate passed for 243 yards — also throwing one touchdown and two interceptions. One of those interceptions was taken to the endzone.

As for Beckham Jr., it looks like it’ll take time to get the former LSU star acclimated to the offense. In his Rams debut, the wide receiver had just two catches for 18 yards.

Matt Stafford and the Rams are all-in on winning the Super Bowl this season. For that sake, hopefully their putrid performance that led to pretzel-throwing will be the low-point of their season.
