2023 NBA Draft Big Board version 3.0

It is NBA Draft Combine week, so what better time to update the 2023 NBA Draft Big Board? In total, 86 players were invited to participate in the 2023 NBA Draft Combine. Not every player invited will participate in the week-long event. Players are put through testing, measurements, medical history, interviews, five-on-five play, and more. Also taking place during NBA Draft Combine week, on Tuesday, is the NBA Draft Lottery. That is when the ping pong balls will determine the order of the first 14 picks (the lottery) of the June 22 draft.

The NBA Draft Lottery could change its name to the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes for this cycle. The 7-foot-3 center out of France has uniquely held the No. 1 spot in mock drafts from start to finish. The NBA App streamed all of Wembanyama’s games this season.

2023 NBA Draft Big Board 2.0 (2/22)

The conversation for the No. 2 pick got interesting toward the latter half of the season with Brandon Miller and Scoot Henderson. Leading into the NBA Draft Combine, I am not sure that that conversation still exists, for now. Keep in mind, however, with the NBA Draft on June 22, there will still be a little over a month remaining for individual workouts, interviews, etc. There is certain to be player movement, both up and down, during that time.

Ages are always interesting to look at when it comes to the NBA Draft. The five youngest players on my current 40-man big board are GG Jackson (December 2004), James Nnaji (August 2004), Dariq Whitehead (August 2004), Bilal Coulibaly (July 2004), and Noah Clowney (July 2004).

Key dates.

NBA Draft Combine, May 15-21
NBA Draft Lottery, May 16
NCAA’s early entry withdrawal, May 31
NBA early entry withdrawal, June 12
NBA Draft, June 22

*The NCAA early entry withdrawal is the deadline for college underclassmen who wish to maintain their collegiate eligibility.
