NFL cornerback Richard Sherman sentenced in plea deal

Veteran NFL cornerback Richard Sherman and the prosecutor’s office of King County, Wash., have reached a plea deal. According to sources close to the situation, on Monday, it was announced that Sherman has agreed to plead guilty to the charges of first-degree negligent driving and second-degree criminal trespass. He also admitted he was guilty of the criminal infraction of speeding in a construction zone.

Sherman will remain under court supervision for up to two years and stay out of further trouble. He will also have to perform several hours of community service and will pay $2500 in court fees.

This situation stems back from an arrest of Sherman in July 2021. Sherman’s wife called 911 after he showed up outside of her parent’s home drunk. During the incident, Sherman can be heard becoming increasingly agitated and threatening self-harm, via a security camera outside the house.

Tampa Bay GM sends message to Tom Brady

The leadership in Tampa Bay isn’t letting Tom Brady go just yet. Despite the legend’s retirement, general manager Jason Licht said, “We’ll leave the light on,” in regards to planning for their future without him.

“We’ll see what the future holds,” Licht said in an appearance at the NFL Combine. “We’ll leave the light on. You always leave the light on for a guy like Tom Brady.”

Brady himself hasn’t ruled out the possibility of coming out of retirement. Asked by Jim Gray on his Sirius XM podcast, the future Hall of Famer said he doesn’t see himself changing his mind, but isn’t definitively saying it won’t happen.

“You know, I’m just gonna take things as they come,” Brady said. “I think that’s the best way to put it and I don’t think anything, you know, you never say never. At the same time I know that I’m very, I feel very good about my decision.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians also discussed the former Buc on Tuesday. When asked if he would help his former quarterback find another team if he wanted to return to football, Arians gave a pretty blunt and honest answer.

“Nope,” Arians said via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “Bad business.”
