NFL trade deadline: Insider reports Eagles All-Pro could be moved
The NFL trade deadline is rapidly approaching.
With most of the week’s games in the books, teams, coaches and general managers have a strong sense of what they may need, where they are, or who they may be willing to part with for future assets.
On Sunday morning, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport published a piece highlighting potential moves before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline.
Although it may sound surprising for Eagles fans, All-Pro defensive end Fletcher Cox was at the top of Rapaport’s list for players that could be dealt in the next 24-48 hours.
“Teams have been contacting the Eagles about Cox, figuring they could take a run at him to see if they could get him for a mid-to-late-round pick,” Rapoport said. “On the heels of Cox airing grievances about the defense, teams have reacted. Cox is one of the core veterans GM Howie Roseman wants around, so he’s unlikely to part with him for anything less than a high pick.”
NFL trade deadline possibilities
Fletcher Cox isn’t the only veteran star pass rusher to get mentioned by legitimate NFL sources as Tuesday looms.
On Sunday morning, Denver Broncos star outside linebacker Von Miller became the subject of trade talks, according to CBS Sports insider Jason La Canfora. The report indicates multiple NFL general managers believe a bidding war will take place ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.
Miller is an eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro who made the Hall of Fame’s All-2010’s Team after winning the 2011 Defensive Rookie of the Year award. He has 110.5 career sacks with 509 tackles and 142 tackles for loss. So far in 2021, Miller has posted 4.5 sacks and 19 tackles over seven games.

La Canfora expanded on Von Miller’s availability with the NFL trade deadline just days away.
“Rival GMs believe Miller is ripe to be dealt, given the prevailing need for pass rush, Miller’s expiring contract, the Broncos’ collective struggles and the strong perception that there could be significant changes coming for the organization in 2022,” wrote La Canfora.
At 32-years old. Miller’s trade value has plummeted since his prime. Recent injuries and an expiring $9 million cap hit also complicate matters. CBS spoke with several NFL general managers who weighed the Broncos options in a potential Miller mega-deal.
“”I don’t know why they wouldn’t do it,” one general manager told CBS. “He has wanted out for a while, he won’t be back there next year, they are struggling with him. Probably will have a new coach next year. George (Paton) has to be looking for picks at this point.”
Another GM said: “I’m not sure we can afford him, but if the Broncos are willing to move some money around and help with the cap number, I bet they get a [third-round pick] for him.”
NFL fans will surely have their eyes glued to the action over the next 48 hours.
