The Pittsburgh Steelers just added some depth to the defensive line. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers have signed defensive lineman Montravius Adams from the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad.

Adams, a former third round pick by the Green Bay Packers out of Auburn, has been in the NFL since 2017. He spent the first four years of his career with the Green Bay Packers, where he had 44 tackles, four tackles for loss, six quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks in 45 games. Adams has played five games with the Saints this season, totaling seven tackles and one tackle for loss. He was on the Saints’ practice squad, and the Steelers are adding him to their active roster.

Adams is a former five-star recruit. He played for Auburn from 2013 to 2016, where he had 147 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, two interceptions, three passes defended, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one defensive touchdown.

The Steelers add Adams to the defensive front following a poor performance vs. Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon just ran all over the Steelers’ defense on Sunday. Mixon had 28 carries for 165 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. He has more than 100 yards by the end of the first half and made things look easy against Pittsburgh all day.

The Bengals ran away with a 41-10 victory to improve to 7-4 on the season. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, falls to 5-5-1 on the season. The Steelers have dealt with a few injuries on the defensive side of the ball in recent weeks, but Sunday’s performance was inexcusable. Pittsburgh is hoping that the addition of Adams can be the spark that the team needs to turn things around on the Steelers defense.

The Steelers now sit in last place in the AFC North. Baltimore leads the division at 8-3 with Cincinnati trailing just behind. The Browns are in third place with a 6-6 record.
