Pittsburgh Steelers win after 4th down interception
The Pittsburgh Steelers held on to a 27-19 lead on the final drive of the game, beating the Denver Broncos for their second win of the season. After driving down the field for a field goal with just over two minutes remaining, the Steelers defense held with a fourth-down interception.
Needing a touchdown and two-point conversion to extend the game, the Broncos reached the three-yard line with 17 seconds to play. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater moved to his left and threw a ball to the corner, attempting to find wide receiver Courtland Sutton in the back corner. Steelers cornerback James Pierre jumped the route and made the interception.
With just 11 seconds on the clock, Ben Roethlisberger and the offense took the field in victory formation and kneeled out the clock.
Now 2-3, the Steelers look to get back on track with their first home win of the season.
The Steelers will play on Sunday Night Football next week, facing the Seattle Seahawks without quarterback Russell Wilson. Veteran backup Geno Smith is expected to take his place in the lineup over the coming weeks.
Steelers Week 5 inactives
WR James Washington, CB Cameron Sutton, DL Carlos Davis, CB Ahkello Witherspoon, LB Buddy Johnson, QB Dwayne Haskins.
After suffering an injury last week, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was questionable heading into Week 5. Roethlisberger was limited earlier in the week, but he was a full participant in Thursday’s practice. That is also true for JuJu Smith-Schuster, Cameron Heyward, Trai Turner, and Kevin Dotson, all of whom are active for Sunday’s game.

Roethlisberger has struggled this season during the Steelers’ 1-3 start. On the year, he is completing 64% of his passes with four touchdowns and four interceptions. With Roethlisberger healthy enough to play and active against the Bengals, third string quarterback Dwayne Haskins again finds himself on the list of Steelers inactives.
Wide receivers Chase Claypool and James Washington both practiced as limited participants on Thursday. Washington will be inactive while Claypool will play against the Bengals.
With Claypool, Washington, and Smith-Schuster all dealing with injuries, the Steelers signed wide receiver Cody White to the 53-man roster earlier in the week. In a corresponding move, the team also released offensive guard Rashaad Coward.
Pittsburgh also elevated safety Karl Joseph to the active roster from the practice squad. Joseph played in 14 games last year for the Cleveland Browns with eight starts. He had 66 tackles, four passes defended, and an interception along with two fumble recoveries.
