Henry Ruggs III

Henry Ruggs III continues to have a breakout year in his second year with the Las Vegas Raiders. On Sunday, he’s been making plays early against a talented Denver Broncos’ secondary.

Check it out below as he catches this 48-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Carr.

Many had pegged Ruggs III for a breakout season in the 2021 season and he has delivered on that thus far.

So far, he’s already hauled in over 400 receiving yards, and we’re not even close to the midway point of the NFL season. Last year for his entire rookie year, he hauled in 452 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns for the entire season. The former Alabama standout could eclipse those marks in less than half of the amount of time in 2021.

Ruggs III displayed his world-class speed during his rookie season and showed flashes of his potential, but did not meet the lofty expectations set for him by the Raiders’ brass when they selected him 12th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. Still, his rookie season had some very impressive stats. Check out this graphic from PFF.

Raiders GM Mike Mayock spoke openly in the off-season about Ruggs III needing to improve, and he has responded to that criticism in a big way in 2021. The talented wideout even admitted he agreed with his GM that he needed to put up better numbers.

Henry Ruggs III rookie highlights

The best moment of his rookie season came against the New York Jets, when he burned the Jets secondary in the closing seconds of the game to lead the Raiders to victory.

It’s pretty mind-blowing how the Jets could let the fastest guy on the field get behind them in the closing seconds of the game, but they managed to do it.

Ruggs III is an incredible athlete and has an insane high school basketball highlight tape, if curious.

Raiders’ fans are hoping the gifted athlete continues to shine for them on the football field in 2021.
