Washington Football Team safety Landon Collins is back. The former Alabama defensive back delivered a hard hit on Thaddeus Moss in the second quarter of Friday’s preseason matchup between Washington and Cincinnati. He also had an earlier hit on rookie receiver out of LSU, Ja’Marr Chase.

Mike Silver interviewed Collins on the sideline during the second quarter of Friday night’s preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Silver asked Collins if he was trying to introduce Chase to the NFL.

“I just wanted to give [Chase] a love tap,” Collins said. “When he came across, I was just trying to make a play. I didn’t know who was coming across there, but whoever was going to get it though. That’s all I can say.”

Collins underwent surgery this past October after tearing his Achilles tendon. It’s good to see him back to making these kind of plays. He is a three-time Pro Bowl safety who also won a national championship in college with Alabama.

Landon Collins isn’t without help in the Washington secondary. He is competing with Bobby McClain and Kamren Curl for time on the field.

“It’s awesome. The competition is always good, for us to push each other, but like I’ve always said, the more DBs we can put on the field, the better,” he said. “We can fly around and do great things together.”

As far as his injury goes, Collins said he is fully recovered. Expect Landon Collins to make a big impact as Washington looks to defend its NFC East Championship.

“Yeah, I’ve been all the way back,” Collins said.

He will get his first chance to show what he can do in the regular season before long. The Washington Football Team opens the year against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 12. They defeated Cincinnati on Friday to improve to 1-1 in the preseason.
