Packers workout former division rival running back
The Green Bay Packers have worked out former Lions running back Kerryon Johnson on Tuesday. The Packers find themselves in the market for running back after starter, Aaron Jones injured his MCL against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Fortunately for Green Bay, the injury isn’t expected to keep him out too long, and the Packers do have second-year running back AJ Dillon to take over in the meantime, but it would be best to add some help if Jones is expected to be out any longer.
Johnson was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, with the Lions, he could never get his career on track due to a series of injuries. In his rookie season, Johnson ended the year on injured reserve after spraining his left knee. And in 2019, he missed a substantial amount of time in the middle of the season after undergoing surgery on his right knee. The Lions decided to part ways with Johnson shortly after the 2020 season; which is the only season he was available and played in all 16 games. This year, he spent time on the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers practice squad but has yet to play down on offense.
Johnson has played in 35 total games rushing the ball 283 times for 1,225 yards and eight touchdowns. He can also be a threat out of the backfield to make plays in the passing game. He has 61 receptions on 80 targets for 527 yards and three receiving touchdowns.
No agreement has been made between the two sides as of now.
Jones suffers injury, AJ Dillon takes over
Jones exited the game in the second half against Seattle after having accumulated 25 yards on seven carries. AJ Dillon took over lead back duties and finished with 21 carries for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

The Packers bounced back from a loss against Kansas City in Week 9 to pull out a 17-0 victory against the Seahawks. They improved to 8-2 on the season and have a strong hold on the NFC North division.
Prior to Sunday, Jones had rushed for 516 yards and three touchdowns on 116 carries this season.
The game remained close until the fourth quarter, when Green Bay scored its only two touchdowns of the game. Both scores were short rushes from Dillon.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his return to the field after missing last week because of COVID-19 protocols. He went 23-of-37 passing for 292 yards and an interception.
