Shrewsberry needed to deflect so he could leave for home. I still want to hear about the interview process where Indiana area was brought up.

The article says SDSU’s run was partially due to transfers they had acquired over the past two years. Everyone does it. Some just do it with more expensive guys; can’t blame a coach for wanting to go out and get the best he can.

FAU is a great story. So was George-Mason. Never saw them again. See what happens next year.

Interesting note I saw an interview with Tom Herman the new football coach of FAU. He said he has seen a difference already in recruiting. Recruits are already interested in going to FAU and staying around their homes locally. Recruits now are very interested in FAU. Hopefully it pays off, I would enjoy seeing some good big time football a couple of miles from my house. Lane Kiffin bolted before he really got FAU football rolling...

In an interview, Dan Hurley also indicated that he emphasizes to recruits that they come to UConn to be a part of the program and coached by him, not for NIL money. Can't say how his team is doing NIL-wise, but I'm guessing that he, like a lot of coaches, thinks it's a distraction he'd rather not deal with.

Basketball more than football can field competitive teams because the number of players is so small and execution/teamwork can make up for lack of talent. This is true to a lesser degree in football, where you see schools (like Iowa) field a very competitive team every four years or so when there is a lot of experience. I wouldn't put a bunch of money into men's bball because of what just happened - have a nice year, NCAA bid, coach gets poached and 80% of the team transfers. F*ck that; I'd rather give Franklin $2mm more a year and I really, really don't want to do that.

I thought central Florida could have been made and can still be made into a football power. Their enrollment is huge. Just takes one guy to make it great.

I think the majority of the team was going to graduate out regardless. The transfer outs seem to be common (our new coach's old team majorly hit the portal after her left) with coaching changes.

I think it boils down to long term plans. You can't be tip toes in the water with support. Get in the pool or GTFO.

Frost had them on their way but decided to leave for Nebraska and we saw how that turned out.

Yes. He went the easy path, at least he thought he did. He could have made central Florida a power and a great coach in his own right. This is how coaches choose their path these days.

He was gone the day he started at PSU. He wasn’t here for the long term. Knew it when he was hired.

He was also not truthful that no one would hire him. When he was with the Celtics he could have taken the Georgia State job but he declined any interviews. He was also up for the UMass job but mysteriously did not wind up with the job. After the Celtics he went back to Purdue.

FAU only loses one senior (who wasn't a starter) and they're moving to the American with 3 other C-USA teams. As long as they don't lose anyone in the portal, they're going to be a favorite in that conference, especially if they add one or two decent players. They're gonna find a couple of players in the portal who will see what they have coming back and also where the campus is located and they're gonna want a piece of that.

SDSU was 30-2 and highly ranked at the start of March 2020, and then the Pandemic hit and caused the cancellation of the NCAA Tournament. So they have had a pretty good basketball program for awhile. Steve Fisher did a good job coaching the Aztecs. Brian Dutcher was one of Fisher's assistants going back to their days at Michigan.

All of that being said, the Aztecs had a stinker of a game on Monday night. Their worst game of the season. It does not change the fact that they had a good Tournament run, but that game was disappointing.

They are trending up again. They have a lot of good things going on as we speak at UCF.
Exactly why i was amazed there was zero talk about CFU and SFU during B1G expansion....Big10 recruiting increased when PSU joined opening exposure for the rest Big schools exposure in PSU recruiting footprint...adding two Fla schools would have helped Fla recruiting.
