See the link below. From the article:

”Fickell confirmed to ESPN on Monday that he has agreed to a new contract through 2028 that will pay him $5 million per year, pending approval from Cincinnati's board of trustees. The school is also expected to up the staff salary pool to $5.2 million, a bump of more than $1.4 million.”

And,

”The impending extension for Fickell will pay him nearly $1.6 million more per year than he was making under his previous deal. It will also put Cincinnati in position to be competitive financially when the school arrives in the Big 12.”

If Fickell continues to win like he did in 2021, how long can Cincinnati keep him?

When Ryan Day takes over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Fickell will go home again. So, give it a year or two.

Meanwhile the Bengals HC salary this year was $3.5 million and they practiced for the Superbowl in the Bearcats indoor facility because they don't have one. 🤣

That's what happens when people have to pay for stuff out of their own pocket instead of using OPM.

Fickell should learn mediocrity is where the big money is…

So, was nobody else willing to pay more for Fickell? Certainly in the huge contract free for all that is college sports, he could have gotten $6m+ by going to near any P5 school, no?

Or...

Is he waiting on Day to leave so he can regain his dream job? And he's staying where he can comfortably without losing his luster and raising expectations too much?

Because we all know, going to a P5 school and not winning big kills his chances at the Buckeyes, which seems to be his goal.

Dunno what Fickell's plans or goals are, but a $5mm consolation prize should provide a nice cushion until he figures it out.

Sandy laughs at seeking approval.
Technicalities, technicalities

Our coach may not know football like Fickell does but he sure can sell it!

Seriously, Fickell has a bunch of happy kids at home, a nice life in Cincinnati, told the world he is staying and not interested in other jobs, and ACTUALLY did such. And $5M a year isn't chicken sh*t

He is a true leader.

$5 MM goes a long way in Cincinnati.

I have no doubt that Luke Fickell is a solid coach, but he’s also recruiting and developing some solid athletes.

If Cincinnati has another undefeated or one loss season does the ACC or B12 make a move?
