See the link below. From the article:

Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke played the entire 2024 season with a torn ACL, his agent, Casey Muir of Octagon, told ESPN on Friday.

Rourke will undergo surgery next week to repair the tear in his right knee ahead of the NFL draft. Rourke, who suffered the injury in August, first tore the same ACL during the 2022 season while at Ohio.”

Tough mother.

I'm guessing this was a partial tear and I don't think there is a lot of pain involved in playing through it. If it was a full tear, pretty sure he wouldn't not be able to cut or make any sort of quick lateral move.

A quarterback at Whitehall played 6 games with a torn ACL. His season was ended by a real low cheap shot by a Miami,Fl recruit.

Still, it’s rare to play on a torn ACL, from what I’ve heard and not heard. And, is a partial tear more likely to become a full tear than an intact ACL?

Tough kid, but he seemed to take quite a risk.

I actually think it's not super rare that someone will play on a partial tear. Seems logical that a partial would likely turn into a full. My wife is a physical therapist for orthopedic surgeons. I'll get some more info.

From the pro:

"Probably a partial thickness tear But even with full tear, some people don’t have a lot of instability due to their bony geometry"

Is it rare to play on a partial tear?
"Not crazy rare especially with a brace But they often progress to full thickness so surgery good idea"

@LionJim wasn't that what your thesis topic was? 11 sided circles and such....

I played with one in the late 60s. Really wasn’t painful and fortunately it didn’t get worse.
