See the link below. From the article:

”After multiple controversial officiating decisions in Sunday's playoff-shaping game between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks, multiple executives and coaches said the NFL needs to reevaluate how it chooses and trains its officiating staff for future seasons.

Those same executives and coaches said game officials and the league missed multiple calls that helped key the Seahawks' overtime victory over the Rams that sent Seattle to Saturday's wild-card round and prevented the Detroit Lionsfrom reaching the playoffs.

Even the NFL's competition committee is aware of what one source described to ESPN "as the worst officiated game of the year."

Another team executive not associated with either the Rams or Lions told ESPN there is "a real groundswell of unhappiness with officiating that is much deeper than I've seen and frankly, I haven't seen in this league in years."

Multiple sources told ESPN that the Rams were upset by the officiating, the Lions were bothered by it and the competition committee was frustrated by it. The calls benefited the Seahawks, hurt the Rams and ultimately impacted the Lions, who needed Seattle to lose in order to have a chance to claim the NFC's final wild-card spot.”

Why are they upset? One should expect simple misunderstandings when the playoffs are on the line. 🤷🏻‍♂️

For years and years and yeeeeears if you pointed out bad calls you were some kind of crybaby and told that that was just how it went and that teams should overcome those, no matter how obvious and game changing they were. As Penn State fans, obviously we have seen it close up and personal in the college game.

So what's changed? Why has it suddenly become ok for fans and sportswriters to ***** and moan about bad calls after decades of being derided for saying anything about it?

Prior to joining the Big 10 i had no issue with OSU or Mich., the officiating was a game changer for me. I wish i could get over it but can't stand either team for it.

They are in the linked article
those calls were all bad, and they all went against the rams. However, due to the way the game played out, the only real penalty that wasn't called that mattered was the taunting non call.
What was more aggravating was the fact that the player would taunt and run out of bounds instead of try to advance the interception.

The referee on that Rams-Seahawks crew had the Jags game tonite. So at least in his case, his playoff standing wasn’t affected. Not sure if his whole crew was with him for the Jags game or if they mix crews based on rating.

If that’s true, he and/or his entire crew should be fired. The number of bad calls or non-calls that went in favor of the Chargers was horrible, and many of them led directly to points and momentum. Amazingly, the Jags were able to mount an epic comeback and win anyway; that should not detract from the scrutiny the officials deserve.

Bosa would disagree on the favortism part but would approve of their firing. Both the 30-26 TD and the 4th down conversion on the final drive had pretty blatant holds on the edge where they shouldn’t be missed.

Upon further review, it was an all-star crew. The same ref as Rams-Seahawks (Shawn Smith) and one other member of that same crew.

Did anyone think the Jags right tackle jumped early on the two last plus of their first half TD drive? I thought they were blatantly obvious.
