See the link below. From the article:

”UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s Office of Government and Community Relations is asking all Penn Staters to stand up and support the University’s request for additional state funding in 2023-24.

A petition from Advocate Penn State aims to connect Penn State Advocates with elected officials in Harrisburg, while raising awareness of the funding disparity faced by Penn State compared to Pennsylvania’s other public universities. Currently, Pennsylvania ranks 47th among the 50 states in higher-education funding, and Penn State receives the lowest funding in the state on a per-student basis.

Sign the petition at govt.psu.edu/petition to voice support for increased funding for Penn State, which will directly benefit students and make for a stronger Pennsylvania.“

Sign the petition. After all, money for Penn State is money spent.

I did see a chart somewhere(not from PSU) of the state funding per student across the state universities of PA. PSU was the lowest. sPitt and Temple and the State Uni system get more than PSU does. Wasn't this part of the reason Spanier picked a fight with the State and pissed off Tommy Corbett who had leaked the presentment to the press that caused the shiite storm that then ensued?

I'd like to see a $2 for $1 approach. For every $2 the University cuts from the budget the state increases their funding by $1. However, the budget cuts must be an actual reduction in spending AND this reduction must be long term. Oh, and the reduction must be based on current spending, not some nebulous "future" cost reduction which is also known as "cost avoidance".

Doesn't PSU employ lobbyists (rhetorical question). That is the way the game is played.

22 not trying to derail a post, but I’m curious about your Xmas tree this year.

Fresh or artificial?

Self cut or delivered?

Thank you for asking. My wife and I have been married 50 years and have never had an artificial tree. For years we bought them at the local tree lot but for the past 30 years or so we have gone to a tree farm and generally cut it down ourselves. We put an addition on our home 10 years ago with 12 foot ceilings which accommodate a taller tree, typically 9-10 feet. Because we often leave our tree up until February, we generally don't get it until a week or so before Christmas. We have chosen this Saturday as the day we will continue our tradition and venture out into the fields of Beaver County to find the perfect tree. I expect to provide a report as I have done in years past.

Back in the late '80's, the University used to gather for "black-tie" fund raisers in Harrisburg and the leader of these gatherings was Sen. Zempreli, (?) I believe his last name was. He was the shill for PSU in getting funding from the state and one year, the Blue Band was invited down to play for one of these black tie events. Lots of cash was dropped at these events along with top-shelf booze consumed with glee by fellow politicians *** for "Dear Old State"...
