See the link below. From the article:

”UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Several new and renovated dining options are now available at the HUB-Robeson Center and at the various dining commons at Penn State's University Park campus.

Starbucks in the HUB-Robeson Center was fully renovated over the summer and nearly doubled in size while incorporating a wide selection of food and beverage options. Starbucks in the HUB is one of two full-size stores on campus, along with the Paterno Library location.“

Gleaned from that article is that PSU employs both a "director of campus retail dining" and a "director of residential dining."

BTW, are there any updates on the progress PSU is making to close its annual operating deficits?

No idea, but the expanded Starbucks has to be good for least #405.

Honest question. Do hospitality-like majors get hands on experience in designing and operating the dining facilities?

The Saxby's in the Business Building is set up that way, as is Cafe Laura in Mateer. I don't know if the Saxby's has any official connection to the School of Hospitality Management.

It is incredible how on a beautiful, holiday weekend, some find the best way to spend their time is ***** and moaning about the Starbucks in the HUB.

Civil rights advocate, which in the McCarthy era would get you the label.

Seems like there was more to it than the McCarthy era. From Wikipedia:

In 1952, Robeson was awarded the Stalin Peace Prize. In April 1953, shortly after Joseph Stalin's death he wrote a eulogy entitled To You Beloved Comrade,[30] in the New World Review, in which he praised Stalin's "deep humanity," "wise understanding," and dedication to peaceful co-existence with all peoples of the world calling him "wise and good." He also praised Stalin as a man that the world was fortunate to have for daily guidance: "Through his [Stalin's] deep humanity, by his wise understanding, he leaves us a rich and monumental heritage."[31]

There is no way that I could afford anything like Starbucks when I attended college (granted, they did not exist in the Stone Age).
I was thinking the same thing. I was way too poor for Starbucks back then. I often ate $1 lunches. Ain't nobody got coin for $4 coffees.

kids today expect designer everything, even coffee

I'm sure this new Starbucks is going to be like a Buc-ees of coffee. I can't imagine how big it would have to be to keep these kids juiced all day.

I used to get annoyed when I had to wait 5 minutes at the Chic-Fil-A.

Hmm.. I wonder how much better I could have performed at PSU if we had Starbucks every day... I just used to take a powernap in class, 10 minutes and I was a good as new.

One of the few vices I picked up after PSU was coffee.

Remember they basically had a Starbucks coffee cart in the HUB - no syrup, whipped cream, or simple syrup. And I didn’t drink coffee in college.

You have raised my interest, what else besides coffee?

Well this is a family board but I can say my ear for world class vinyl records was not developed back in the 90s.
I figured you had that at birth. Going to see the Allman Betts Family Revival when I head South for the winter. Before that, I’ll be checking out Weir and the Wolfpack in Philly this month.

Nice. The Black Crowes are playing in St Pete the night after their Aerosmith party in Tampa and I got tickets to that coming up.
