On the football team that were here when Lebby arrived. This is per a Rosie story. Most of those 17 are contributing. Whatever happens next season is all Lebby. I hope we see some big improvement next year. Obviously I don't expect a winning season but at least that excuse is gone now. This is solidly his team. He picked them.

If he had changed the defensive staff, I would feel better about next season. He has to win. He made the decision to keep it. His time at State fully depends on that decision.

Does this count include guys like Creed who quit on the team early in the season? If so, good riddance to them. Hard for me to consider a quitter to be a contributor.
You think he made the decision to not pay Hutzlers buyout? I don't know if he wanted him to stay or go, but if he wanted him gone it goes to someone else that has the code to the safe. I'll assume most of yall on this board don't pay the bills around your house and know that you got to have $ in your account to actually pay your bills.
Obviously since Creed is in the portal he would not be one of the 17 remaining scholarship players. Those 17 consist of players that have not left the team as of yesterday.

All the schools will only have 6-8 scholarship players Out of high school each year with NIL now. Why get a high school kid when you can get someone you can see play against decent competition. Does the NIL kids get a scholarship or does the NIL money pay his tuition?

I don't have a 2-10 football team that the SEC gives 50 million for every year. If he wanted him gone, he would be gone. He hired a buddy and that's the fact. I wish I had an organization drop me that kind of money every year. It doesn't matter how good they are or not. State is getting the money. In today's world of college football three million or whatever it is isn't jack for a buyout. It's not money dude.

Really had high hopes Davis would come back and be a factor, and he may yet, but someone on here mentioned his rehab was going poorly.
Not at all talking about a "pass" for Lebby. Talking about the $ to not only to get rid of Hutzler but then to hire another DC all the while still paying Arnett and Coach Leach. The $ that comes in from the SEC doesn't just go for Football.
This is the year Lebby has to prove himself, if the D is as abysmal in 2025 we'll see if Lebby can move on from Hutzler, if not then we know he's not gonna make it as a HC.
