I use Duck Duck Go most of the time and never have any issues like this.
I’ve said this I don’t know how many times but there’s always that 10% that doesn’t get the word.

I have Brave and gave it a try for 2 weeks.
The search is atrocious. Googles search isn't as good as it was 8 years ago, but current Google is 8x better than the crap that Brave spews.
The anonymity is cool. The anonymity is annoying.
You don't have to choose between ads and the Brave search engine.

If you don't want to use a browser that blocks ads by default (Brave), you can also use browser extensions. I sometimes have to use Chrome. I use the free extension uBlock Origin.
