If I remember correctly, the Maryland fans were acting like total douches during the game.
Think they threw a bottle that hit one of our players.
No wonder PSU beat them like a rented mule. 🤣🤣🤣
BTW....that was a great team setting the stage for 1994.

Was the beer bottle that year? My brain remembers it as hitting Richie Anderson (who was from MD) but I could be wrong.

Yes they were, still are. Blowing whistles and IIRC it was a whisky bottle that hit Brian O'neal

Was that the game where Beano Cook uttered the infamous line about Maryland never beating Penn State again?

I was there as a 12 year and remember the numerous whistles. It tricked me more than once in thinking the play was being blown dead. I also remember my younger brother bought a vuvuzela at the game; years before they became a nuisance at the 2010 World Cup.

Thanks for posting. That was my senior year…did not travel down to MD for that one. Funny how big and clunky the gear was not so long ago. The helmets weren’t quite the same color white as the jerseys. And yes, that season was setting the stage for one of the greatest teams we’ve ever had. Good times.

I was at a preseason doubleheader at Hersheypark Arena between the Penguins and Flyers and their minor league affiliates. My dad was listening to the game on the radio and he kept laughing after every 5 minutes when he'd give a scoring update as the beatdown got worse and worse.
