I will feel much better about being a lock for the tournament when we get to 25.

Next eight games will be bumpy.
Maybe. I’m starting to trust this team and believe we have something special. I think the odds of it being bumpy are just as good as us winning the SEC regular season at this point. We have a number of guys that can get hot and control a game (Meechie, Mack, Cooper, Stute, Murray-Boyles). Even Josh Gray dominated Georgia.

But most of all a couple of weeks ago I looked at the upcoming schedule and thought we’d do well to go 2-3 between UK, Mizzou, @ UT, @ UGA, and Ole Miss. I expected to beat Mizzou and find ways to lose the others. Damn if we didn’t go 5-0. This upcoming stretch is no more difficult than those 5 games.

This team is different and they have been all season. They do feel a bit like the 1997 team where they just find ways to win games, even when you expect it’s time for them to fall flat. I don’t think we’re going undefeated the rest of the way. But I also don’t think just because we’re on the road against a team with a pulse means we’ll lose. In fact, I’m excited to see how our team handles playing a good Auburn team in the spotlight. Personally, I think they’ll be ready. This is a very mature team.

What's scary is we finished the '15-'16 season 24-7 and got hosed (didn't make the tourney - instead went to the NIT).

It has been a while since South Carolina has won a game in the state of Alabama. They have two games in Mississippi in which I hope South Carolina wins one of them. Texas AM could be a winnable game in which Texas AM loss to Louisiana State and Mississippi at home and a loss to Arkansas. Vanderbilt should be a gimme win, but Florida and Louisiana State will be tough games however I am glad those two games are at the Colonial life arena. Tennessee will be very tough.

I do have confidence in South Carolina in which Coach Paris does have a lot to choose from the toolbox. The team is winning in different ways but defense seems to be a constant.

Only three SEC teams went to the tournament that year. I think South Carolina's metrics are better this season than the season that you refer to.

Would absolutely love to see an SEC regular season title, that 1997 title looks lonelier and lonelier with each passing year.

Regular season would be great. But maybe this team will show up in the tournament as well. We’ve made the title game a couple of times but lost both. Would love to win the SEC Tournament someday.

I'd take either/or, to think that one regular season title in 1997 is all we've done since we've been in the SEC is absurd. Is there any of the other 12 members of the SEC(excluding Texas A&M and Missouri since they didn't come in until 2012) that haven't won at least one or the other since 1998?

Ole Miss has never won a regular season SEC championship, so we're one up on them.
