Saw Alcaraz's shot while at lunch. It was stunning.
Day2:
Looking forward to Jess Pegula's first round match against Donna Vekic. Should be going on right around lunch time EST. At this point in her career Vekic is looking to make a push for quality wins. Tough matchup for first round.

Incredible match for the first round…Serena showed those flashes of brilliance, but in the end just too many unforced errors (the rust definitely showed).Serena out in round 1. Three hr match.
Wow, just watched the highlights and commentary on ESPN. Umpire definitely just let things go. Seemed like he let Kyrgios F bomb tirades go just to equalize the no call(s) on Tsitipas hitting into the crowd. Kyrgios definitely playing up the "bad-boy" image of the 80s Detroit Pistons with the Dennis Rodman basketball shirt in the post-match press conference. That aside, it just affirms what a punk Kyrgios is.It’s rare that you hear a commentator call a match a ‘dumpster fire’ but that is exactly what the Kyrgios/Tsitsipas match was today. I mean, it’s entertaining as hell, but wow, haven’t seen anything like this since Johnny Mac’s hey day. At issue is Kyrgios flipping his sh*t because Tsitsipas was not penalized for firing a ball into the crowd out of anger (and he’s totally right). Then Kyrgios firmly gets into Tsitsipas’s head by catching him off guard with an underhand serve that Tsitsipas smashes into the scoreboard. In between is a bunch of yelling at the umpire, trying to bean each other with shots, calling out the tournament refs, etc. Its on the Tennis Channel right now if you’re looking for something entertaining to watch.

I can’t stand Kyrgios on the court (beyond the off-court stuff)…it’s bad enough that I was rooting for Djoker today even though I’m not a fan of his at all, just because I think he’ll pound Kyrgios on Sunday. The dude allegedly beat his ex gf and is facing charges upon his return to Australia. It’s hard to root for Kyrgios.

Rybakina wins it over Jabeur for the women. Probably the most unemotional champ I've ever seen! Give credit to her though. Became a volleyer during the match which is not her game at all.
If Wimbledon banned Russians from competing this year, how is on the women's side a Russian won?Rybakina wins it over Jabeur for the women. Probably the most unemotional champ I've ever seen! Give credit to her though. Became a volleyer during the match which is not her game at all.

She does represent Kazakhstan but was born in Moscow and represented Russia until 2018. Naturally, the Russian Tennis Federation is taking the credit. Can't blame them. Her formative training was in Russia. She’s Kahzakstanian.
