I'm giving everyone plenty of advance warning. I'm traveling most of Friday to attend a conference, and then will be participating in it all day on Saturday and half of Sunday -- and then traveling home. In short, I'll try to check in on this thread, but you guys are going to have to post the results, discuss it, etc.
Just as an addition to this, I have a full day event on Saturday that will allow me to check in every now and then to post updates, but I don't expect to get to a full recap until Sunday barring a change.

Sure hope the day comes-soon-when this FInal X event-gets the national tv exposure it deserves. I remember when the NCAA finals -not so long ago-had little or no exposure on ESPN-it was shown at odd times and got very low ratings. Now ESPN covers NCAA tournament in prime time and gets pretty decent ratings. I hope that appreciation of how great these are-both the men and women-and it gets the coverage it deserves. Obviously there are more female high school and college and national wrestlers than ever. Should be great event but so many are not going to see it live because of lack of exposure on tv other than through FLO wrestling. Good luck to the PSU wrestlers and NLWC wrestlers-all can not win as some are competing against each other. Hope it is a great event.
I highly doubt we ever get to that point. I could be wrong but I don't think ESPN is really looking to acquire off-brand events at this point (at least it relates to major college and professional leagues versus this) and FLO has been a long-time supporter and broadcaster of it.
Greg-just curious how many viewers does FLO have vs any ESPN channel? and how were ratings on wrestling NCAA tournament this year?And why did ESPN add to coverage of NCAA tournament (more days in and finals in prime time) in recent years vs several years ago when only the finals were on and not at a great time. It is all about ratings and money. Just curious. With more females wrestling at all levels, curious if that will increase viewership down the road. I know it sure would be tough to afford-without a lot of donors- another varsity sport at PSU but it they were to do I would think it would be womens wrestling. In all honesty I have been surprised at how popular it has become at high school level but sure has across the country.
Not a clue on the FLO viewers. They aren't required to release their subscription or viewership information. Finals viewership for NCAAs was down this year.
I think Andrew's numbers miss the ESPN+ viewership. I would fall into the 28% less viewership because I didn't watch ESPN TV broadcast/cable but in reality I watched more of the tournament than I ever have (on ESPN+). Note that I tip my hat to ESPN+, I thought they did an excellent job. It was a slight tweak to how ESPN had presented the tournament before.

Gilman loses the first one 3-4. Richards had what I would call counters to Thomas initiation of the action. Also Richards defended push outs well by going to his knees.
Nick Lee wins 7-6 over Yanni There was a weird call which Nick scored on.....I can't describe.
Zain cruises. Berger scores first then it is all Train. Berger shoots poorly and head butts ZR at the end and Zain is bleeding all over the place with 16 sec left........Pro Wrestling style. Zain is hot like I have NEVER seen him. Even as his hand is raised, he is jawing at Berger.
