Everyone should go once
Strong opening games by Panama and Japan. They threw no hitters in their opening games. Panama did so over the Europe-Africa champ (Czech Republic). Japan did it against Cuba, which is doubly impressive.
Whats with the play in games seems wierd that two teams have to win 1 more game than the othersPA (Media LL) falls to Texas, 2-1, in their opening game. A combination of some poor D by Media, and some terrific pitching by the starter for TX, were the difference.

As a dad of 4, I can’t tell you how satisfying that was for your father. Kudos to you!Grew up close to South Williamsport (which is where the LLWS is REALLY played). Though with calls like this, perhaps it wasn't as tough for Japan to attain a no hitter.
Never forget this part of it. My dad told me many times that the best part of my boyhood was our trips to the Palestra. My dad was a sweet man.As a dad of 4, I can’t tell you how satisfying that was for your father. Kudos to you!
Wow! That was literally a foot outside, and it was a straight pitch with zero movement.Hey Tom, this needs to be merged with the Angel Hernandez thread. SMH!![]()
It’s Little League…after coaching for years you learn to not expect much from the umpires. However, I always preferred a big strike zone to a small one….otherwise it’s a walk-a-thon and that sucks worse than getting crushed by a team hitting the ball all over.Wow! Nice observation, thanks. The depth of where LL catchers set up makes pitches look further inside and outside. We are accustomed to MLB catchers being right behind the plate. In LL these kids tend to be up to 2 feet further back.
Agree, should have to beat them twiceThe California team came out of the Elimination bracket and defeated the Texas team in the LLWS U.S. Championship, 6-1. (I've never been a fan of the fact that in all the competitions up till Regionals, if you come out of the Elimination bracket you have to beat the team from the Championship bracket two times to win that tournament. However in the Regional finals, and in the LLWS U.S. Championship, the team from the Elimination bracket only has to defeat the team out of the Championship bracket one time to take the title.)
They'll face Curacao in the LLWS Final on Sunday, as Curacao defeated Taiwan 2-0 in the LLWS International semifinal.
It doesn’t really matter if the home plate ump calls them just a little bit outside as long as he’s consistent. As both a player and ump in my younger days, I believe that is what’s important. It’s Little League…after coaching for years you learn to not expect much from the umpires. That’s where you and I differ, I don’t want consistent, I want correct. If they consistently call a ball two feet wide a strike, that’s just consistently being wrong. Definitely error on the side of a bigger strike zone for youth teams, but be reasonable about it.It doesn’t really matter if the home plate ump calls them just a little bit outside as long as he’s consistent. Agree as well, but as we know tV controls everything. They want the ability to show a final where the winner takes all, not if one team wins we have another game.Agree, should have to beat them twice
Ravi with an EPIC announcer jinx!California with a walk-off HR by the lead-off batter in the bottom of the 6th, to win the LLWS, 6-5. An entertaining game, and another great couple of weeks of baseball at Williamsport.
2 feet outside the strike zone isn’t what I meant, but your point is taken. That’s where you and I differ, I don’t want consistent, I want correct.
