From LSU on3 insider …. According to sources with knowledge of the situation, LSU is not expanding its search in the 2024 class after missing out on Koval. Sarah Strong, Joyce Edwards, and Jaloni Cambridge continue to be the top priority for this staff. Thats the top three players in the country. They’ll take as many as they can get from that trio. There’s confidence that the team can use the portal to fill holes from year to year.

A lot of posters are angry that they are only showing interests in the top 4 players in the class and are not going to bring Shaq’s daughter in for a visit.

So what do you think LSU’s chances are with those three? I believe we get Edwards but what about Strong and Cambridge?

The article says they feel strong about all 3 :/.
I think they feel the best about Strong though. It also says Jaloni may wait until 2024 before committing.

the report added that they are putting the full-court press on both Strong and Edwards - full staff home visits, etc..

the LSU Insider previously felt very strong about Koval and we see how that worked out. hoping for more of the same, considering.
just give me Edwards, Tac, and a wing that can shoot to go along w/ Maddy, and I'll call it a day

I honestly can’t see that either. It really doesn’t make sense but I’m always nervous when L$U is involved.
obviously both are excellent players and prospects to recruit for a program. however, and I'm just speculating. it seems she is also seeking to undercut her main current rivals for WBB superiority in SC, OSU, and UConn by going so hard for each team's top targets and apparently no one else (not even Shaq's kid). It's also apparent now that LSU WBB recruiting for 2024 was centered around focusing on 4 of the top 5 players in the county. It seems Kim's mindset is "LSU is so hot right now, let's lock the next four or five years with a dream team of 2024 recruits to put with Mikaylah Williams . Great for her program and fans if it all works out, but if she misses on all 4, and she already missed on Koval, it could spell some trouble for her program sooner than later

I would pay the $4.99 to find out but last time I did I couldn't access the article I was trying to read and got no response from them :(
Please don't waste your money. I did try to search followers and I didn't notice anything USC related. I did see Coach Yo, Florida's coach and the UCLA team page stood out to me. Only time will tell, I feel like the staff is focusing solely on Tac for now as our 5.

This video is a month old. Had it been posted here? SIAP.

I saw it yesterday. Found it by accident. Very good interview IMHO. Wouldn't it be so nice to click on a WBB gori=um and have everything there that was news....GC, twitter (X), instagram, tik tok ?. I spend a lot of time trying to find out stuff , as A lot of y'all do. I joined GC ....for the sole purposeof getting info on our WBB program. Football, the State covers that enuff for me.

Ok...Koval is going to Notre Dame....O'neal and Tac are still out there as well. But the 6'4" Forward Ariana Roberson ranks ahead of Tac and O'Neal. All 3 are from Texas. I was just watching highlights of Roberson and she can dunk a basketball as well.

I would think if we miss on Tac, Roberson would be candidate for the post position.

I think you have mentioned Roberson a couple of times and I’m not sure why. There appears to be no interest on her part and as far as I can tell we have showed no interest. Her older sister plays at TCU and in addition she has taken officials to UCLA, Oregon, and Utah.

Why? You don't get it do you? Once you figure it out, then answer your own question.
No I don’t get it. We have not offered. She has not ever expressed interest or visited. She sounds like a great player so please enlighten me as to why you think she is on our radar or we are on hers. Tell me what you know or is this just wishful thinking.

I hope it’s a good sign! I read on Louisville site that rumor is that Louisville and Arizona are the favorites for Awa Fam. If that is true I have to think that Tac can't be the commit that they tweeted about.
I heard it's the guard Tajianna Avant-Roberts #25 on hoopgurlz is going to Louisville and she is the silent commit. I don't know if Louisville is a serious prospect for any more post players. They added 2 freshman bigs for this season and their lone 2024 commitment is another big. I feel like Tac or Fam would be better off not being the 4th young big on the team.

How long has Dawn been recruiting Kennedy Smith and Mackenly Randolph? Has that been more recent?

Again i ask are we recruiting Roberson?? No. Has she expressed interest in us? No. Tac announces October 29. Signing Day is November 8. The window to recruit Roberson is gone. She is a wonderful player but wishing don’t make it so.

We have recruiting Kennedy Smith for at least a year.
No one is quite sure on how long for Randolph. Very early in her process she stopped announcing offers offers. She stated we were a finalist in early August. So work a time line backwards from that date and would imagine at least 9 months to a year.

These two players I asked you about, offers came after other W/SF committed to other schools. Blanca chose UNC, Koval chose Notre Dame. If Tac chooses Louisville or UGA over us, don't you think Dawn will look to see who is still available at the post position in the high school ranks? I was commenting on Roberson being ranked ahead of Tac.

Dawn offered Smith and Randolph after Morgan Cheli, Kendall Dudley, & Toby Fournier committed to other schools. So I guess with the response you have made to me is that if we don't get Tac, we're done looking for a Post player in the High School ranks for 2024 signing period.

I never once said Dawn was recruiting Roberson, I was just making observations. Don't know where you got the idea that I thought we were recruiting Roberson. I just simply stated that she was ahead of Tac in the rankings and it would be nice if Dawn might take a look if we lose Tac.

Actually, I believe Dawn started recruiting Kennedy in January which was before Dudley, Cheli & Fournier made their commitments.

Regarding Roberson … Recruiting doesn’t work that way … if Dawn misses on Tac this late in the game she isn’t going to call up Roberson. Dawn obviously did not want to pursue her for whatever reason or if she ever reached out earlier in the process, Roberson didn’t show interest. It is a two way street and that ship has sailed. Official visits have been set.

Looking at that blog it makes you realize how cutthroat recruiting is . I guess you have to identify and throw out a WIDE net ....follow up on any nibbles...and put the full court press on. I would pay good money to sit in on a South Carolina recruiting staff meeting with Dawn. lol I still think that geography has changed in WBB ....Texas, California seem to be producing a lot of players. For 2025 top 60 on the East Coast...NC 1. VA 2 , SC 0, Fla, 4

I find it interesting that Roberson has no offers from any of the typical championship contending teams. Not only did we not extend an offer neither did UConn, Stanford, Notre Dame or Maryland . Even the top schools in Texas such as UT, A & M and Baylor didn't offer her either so maybe there's more to story on her recruitment that we realize.

Parents played for New Mexico State, one sister volleyball at UT, one sister Bball at TTU, one sister and brother at Colorado, and one presently at TCU. UCLA is top team she has visited. My guess she had choices already narrowed and just didn’t listen to other offers

Kellie Rae Finley, who I really don’t like, has gotten some recruiting traction at UF. She has Kylee Kitts committed and Alivia McGill #19 a pg. To then get Cambridge to visit with a 5* pg committed says something. Like maybe we still have a shot.
Cynthia Jordan is probably a help as well on the recruiting front.

A Tale of Three Portals

Different paths to success for UT, LSU and the Gamecocks.

UT and Maryland are the quintessential portal team. The ‘24 class will be Harper’s 5th recruiting class. So far she has failed miserably.

With Boyd from the ‘24 class that will make 9 HS recruits and 2 overseas players for a total of 11. 6 have transferred out including 2 of her only 3 5***** players. She has not retained in state talent. Despite this the program has succeeded with back to back 25 win seasons.

Because of 12 transfer portal players in 4 years. It has been a mix of top tier talent leaving for UT, Rickea Jackson and Jewel Spear. This talent has been combined with Mid Major players who blossomed or filled a role.
UT is officially a portal school.

LSU In three seasons has brought in 20 players; 10 freshman recruits 1 JUCO and 9 portal players.

For Mulkey the portal has been a godsend to revamp a program quickly and not have to experience growing pains.

This year’s incoming class brought in HVL and Morrow from the portal and also the #1 recruiting class. Clearly Mulkey is attempting to move the foundation of the program to HS players. Can she do that?

They have 1 player committed so far for the ‘24 class #95 PG Jada Richard. They are playing go large or go home with who they are targeting. They missed on Koval. Strong, Cambridge and Edwards are left.

Hit on two and transition complete, hit on one and it’s iffy, 0 fer and they are in the portal market full force this spring.

The last 5 rosters(including this season)for the Gamecocks has included 4 portal players; Littleton, Cardoso, Fletcher, and Paopao. The portal usage has been very selective and need driven, except for Cardoso who just fell in our lap.

We signed 16 recruits, 15 HS, 1 JUCO. So far only 3 have left; Russell who was a total bad evaluation, by everybody not just our staff, she is stuck on the end of the bench for a bad UK team. Rivers, playing time and Cooper playing time. Really good for the team talent and the era.

Dawn is not afraid to use the portal but it is clearly an adjunct based on need. It’s what you expect and want a stable top tier program to be.
