does Louisiana produce any WBB players ? Who would be a consistent winner if you had to recruit only players from your state ?

You made me curious.

This just shocked me. Over the last 15 years Louisiana has only produced 8 players that made the HOOPGURLZ top 💯 and only 3 of those are 5 star.

In contrast SC had produced 18 5 star recruits over the same period and almost 40 players in the top 💯

Thank you for the info. Strange. Supposedly La produces a ton of NFL guys so there are athletes down there besides Shaq's daughter

I heard it's the guard Tajianna Avant-Roberts #25 on hoopgurlz is going to Louisville and she is the silent commit. I don't know if Louisville is a serious prospect for any more post players. They added 2 freshman bigs for this season and their lone 2024 commitment is another big. I feel like Tac or Fam would be better off not being the 4th young big on the team.
It is a positive that it does seem like both hometown schools have already filled their wing spots, but this news is concerning to me as Kennedy Smith and Avant-Roberts are AAU teammates

You never know. Some kids want to go to school together and others would rather carve their own path. Horston and Zia are a great example of this.

Louisville is in a weird place programmatically and roster construction.

They were forced to go the portal route for this year’s team and brought in 5 transfers. This is the first time Walz has seriously dipped into the portal. It indicates they have either just hit a dry spell in recruiting or mAybe a philosophy change.

They graduate six and as of now and with Avant-Roberts have a 8 player roster with only TWO guards for next season. It is an out of balance roster that is going to need at least 2 probably 3 portal guards.

I am garnet glasses but we seem to the best fit for her game and for her to fit into a roster

Adhel Tac's teammate Taliyah Parker has a countdown timer for 18+ days for her commitment which is the same day as the big surprise Adhel previously posted. So I believe both her and her teammate are both commiting on Oct. 28.

I still haven't seen anything to suggest that she's visited UNC yet, if she cancelled that trip, then I really like our odds. Also worth noting that Taliyah top 8 doesn't include any of Adhel's top 4 so no worry about them committing to the same school.

Thanks, the SEC has morphed from being somewhat down to a league that is about to become deep and fierce.

Coaches on Really hot seats

Kyra Elzey UK
They do have an SEC Tournament championships in her 3 years🤬🤬🤬
But the record has gotten worse every year.
The roster has also gotten worse every year also. Recruiting has been horrid. Portal better but not great. Only one player on the roster who is considered of high quality, Maddie Scherr. Say your goodbyes and good luck to Elzey when they are in town.

Robin Pingeton Mizzou
Pingeton is an excellent X & O’s offensive coach, but Mizzou has missed the NCAA TOURNAMENT 4 years in a row and this year will be 5. She gets occasional 5 star players but most leave. Blackwell left in a public disaster mess of Pingeton’s making with a lot of idiotic help from everyone’s villain, Sophie Cunningham.
Pingeton has been there 11 seasons. She may get another year out of good will but it would be delaying the inevitable.

Johnnie Harris Auburn
I know this is only her third season and she inherited a program at the bottom BUT she has done very little to make them better. She has made a slight improvement in record BUT only by OOC scheduling that would make Mulkey proud.

Harris brought in 10 new players. Five incoming freshman and none who can really hope to be top tier SEC players. Three through the portal 2 5***** who failed at their previous school and a 10&10 undersized post from Ok St. Good player, big heart but will be overmatched in this league. 2 JUCO players who played well at that level but who knows how they will transition.

Harris deserves a 4th year simply on the body of her work at previous schools. But she needs a dramatic turn around from a roster ill equipped to provide it. It’s Auburn, the axe just fall quicker there.

A'ja went to China for 400,000 $ after her rookie year . Assistant coaches don't make that much. But yes, always good to have optoions. A chance to renew your mind, body and spirit.

Harris being stepped over after Vic left was not a good look...replacing Vic with that dude...what 's his name is even worse....couldn't support that guy as a player nor as a fan....I hate the "cheerleader "type coaches....just makes me want to run the score up on them

Parents played for New Mexico State, one sister volleyball at UT, one sister Bball at TTU, one sister and brother at Colorado, and one presently at TCU. UCLA is top team she has visited. My guess she had choices already narrowed and just didn’t listen to other offers
Looks like you were right. Apparently one of those choices was UConn which was never known until now it seems.

Vic Schaefer was replaced at Miss st by Nikki McCray-Penson, long time assistant coach at South Carolina. McCray-Penson had turned ODU around quickly after leaving the Gamecocks.
Nikki kept the State team remarkably intact but they were the team hardest hit by Covid except for Vandy for the 20-21 season. She resigned days before the 21-22 season when her reoccurrence of cancer was discovered.

Weirdly State named 3rd assistant Jay Novak who had just been hired that summer as interim head coach

BTW...How do you feel about Men coaching WBB ? I personally don't like it . The hugs with young women seem awkward and the " Waita go " pats on the butt...well "Forget about it ". Plus if you are having personal issues, who would you rather discuss them with , a man or a woman ?

Roster oddness for this year in the SEC

Conference is stronger this year, better talent, but also just a glut of seniors on the better teams. Because of the experience we might struggle a little more. I however have faith in our talent and culture.

here is a list

Ole Miss 7 seniors
UGA, UT, UF, Miss st, Mizzou 6 seniors
Bama 5 seniors
LSU, A&M 4 seniors

the portal and NIL has just turned everything upside down. I don't think you will ever see something like the "freshies "again...5 came in together and stayed 4 years together.

I don't think it matters at all. If you can coach, you can coach. There are plenty of women on the staff that can handle personal issues if the player doesn't feel comfortable. But, if equally qualified, I would love to see more women in the game. As far as touching, as long as it's not inapproriate like that soccer dude kissing a player on the mouth, no problem. To avoid any misconceptions, I would error on the safe side regardless of the gender. Fist bumps or granny hugs for me.

You know, I have certain sensibilities myself, but I think we're a little late in the game to worry too much about this one. The greatest dynasty ever has been built and maintained by a man and he ain't very dainty, either.

National article on OOC strength of schedule for the upcoming season. No real surprises if you have been following this thread. Our schedule was ranked 3rd toughest. I think we should have been 2nd but bless Kellie Harper’s ugly orange soul, she is not afraid to schedule.

Two worst in the country? No mystery here, LSU and Ole Miss. Our league other than us and UT is filled with teams doling out money for wins🤮
