I'm setting this (and all of the B1G Session Threads) the day before the start of the B1G Tourney, so that everyone knows the plans, has the links, etc.

Please use the thread for all pre-tournament, in-session, and post-session discussion for the 2024 B1G Wrestling Tournament.

When:
March 9, 10:00 am EST

Where:
Xfinity Center, College Park, MD

Action:
This will be R1, then Quarterfinals, as well as some Wrestlebacks)

TV:
BTN. Want to stream it? Fubo's spring offer just kicked off - For a limited time, new subscribers can save $20 on their first month of Fubo's Pro, Elite, and Premier plans. They all include BTN. Click here to learn more and sign up today!

Video Streaming:
For subscribers, you can stream it via B1G+ (This enables you to dictate which mat you watch, whereas with the BTN TV coverage you are at the whim of the BTN producer as to what mat is on the broadcast.)

Audio Streaming:
The radio PBP, with Jeff Byers at the mic, will be streamed for free. The pre-Session portion of the broadcast will begin at 9:40 am EST, with the actual PBP of the matches taking place at 10:00 am EST. (They've been inconsistent this season about starting at X:40 and X:45, so who knows which it will be for this Session.) You can access the audio stream at:

Team Scoring:
The best place to track the team scoring is the Penn State Wrestling Club web site. The link for the team scoring is:

https://www.pennstatewrestlingclub.org

PBP:
Unfortunately, I'll miss most of Session I. I'll be around for the first 30 minutes or so, but that's about it, so I won't be able to provide PBP. I believe @GregPickelis will be posting results/doing PBP, and anyone else is encouraged to help with that as well. As always, I remind you to please include the score for the match in your posts, or provide some context (wrestler, school, and weight class) beyond just "that's not a takedown." It also helps to give folks a heads up as to what mat a PSU wrestler will be wrestling on. You can usually get that info from Ironhead's audio PBP, from Penn State Wrestling's twitter account, or from TrackWrestling.

No, we don't. Seriously, just stop. You don't understand the sport. That's ok. But instead of commenting on anything and everything, how about you try learning. Spoiler alert: there's a good chance we're not in first after session 1.

Well then the sport has significantly changed, if you really did, because based on your posting, you don't get it. Just take a step back. There's many knowledgeable posters here who will explain it to you if you don't spam every thread with nonsense.

The kids high school track and cross country coach used to say, ‘it doesn’t matter where you start, it matters where you finish’. Will be totally out of the loop Saturday and Sunday, flying home from Honduras all day Tuesday. Shopping and eating American food and making sure everything at home works on Wednesday. Watching replays of Big 10’s all day Thursday (or as my wife says, until my eyes bleed). 😳🤷😉. Will read updates as opportunities permit. Go Lions!!

Correct, the difference in maximum points for a wrestler with a bye vs a wrestler without a bye is 2.

So, PSU max points for the team is 12 less than say Indiana or 6 less than scUM.

I saw somewhere that Iowa has a high number of 3 seeds. That should easily be bonus for them against the 14 seeds. We won't make that up until placement points. We're gonna win this thing by 70-80 and people are gonna be freaking out around noon tomorrow. I suspect RealKing will be leading the charge.

149: 3
157: 4

174: 3
184: 13
197: 3
285: 7

Five #3 seeds is a high number.

Reminder for those that want quicker up to date standings etc. NLWC does a good job with standings and I think they tweet out mat assignments. You will find that in here, but maybe not as fast.

Five #3 seeds is a high number.
My hope is a Penn State team win, (at least) all of our number one seeds win championships, and Iowa has zero champions.

Not sure it's talked enough about the reseeding at 125. Davis avoids Lujan in round 1. He's tough and a hard matchup for a freshman.

No sir. Between Big Tens and states, just easier to do it all from one location here. But, I am here in terms of updates for everyone!
Isn’t PA HS States usually the weekend BETWEEN Big Ten and NCAA tournaments?… If so, is this a permanent change, or a calendar fluke this year?

125 is a bit of a landmine for everybody.

Lujan has kind of surprised me this year, in that he hasn't done as well as I expected.

FWIW, Davis has faced him twice this season, and beat him in Nov. at the Black Knight Invitational, 4-2, and in the PSU - MSU dual in Jan., 7-3

133: Aaron Nagao vs. Andrew Hampton

Aaron Nagao made it to the mat first for Penn State at 133 pounds. He used a double leg shot to score the opening takedown and then titled Andrew Hampton for four near-fall points and a 7-0 lead. Later, he scored a takedown for a 10-0 lead and scored a 11-0 major decision with 2:12 in riding time. He is onto the next round.
