The next big national event on the schedule is Fargo. (Technically, the U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals.) It will take place at the Fargo Dome, in Fargo, ND, on July 10 through July 19.

Competition will take place in Greco-Roman, women's freestyle, and men's freestyle.

States submit their rosters, and USA Wrestling has started to release them.

Please use this thread for all pre-tournament, in-tournament, and post-tournament discussion.

I'll note that part of the reason I'm setting this up now is that over the course of Fargo, I have a wedding weekend to attend, and will also be on vacation. As such, my contributions in the thread (mostly the posting of results and videos/tweets of action) will be extremely limited.

The PA team was released today. You might recognize some of the names (if you follow this stuff).

Sam Herring at JR 132.
Melvin Miller at JR 165.

James, Bassett, Sidun, and the Bachmanns not listed. (Team NJ is also at that site.)

Too early to tell for Anderson and Borge -- their states are not yet at the site.

Bo is listed at JR 144 and Keegan is listed at 16U 106. No Bachmanns that I can find.

I’ll be following Kendahl Hoare at 16U 215. For those who weren’t on the Rival’s board, he’s my old college coach’s son. His uncle wrestled at Bloomsburg with Willie. Good kid, and a tough wrestler. He took 6th at AAA states this year as a freshman at 189lbs

Yep! Wrestled there 2013-2015. Matt Park and Josh Knapp were my coaches freshman year and David Hoare and Joe Shields were my coaches sophomore year. Former Clarion HC Ken Nellis was our AD. He’d run practices here and there
Worked there for 7 years, starting right after you left. Sad to see it closing. Dave and Ken are good people.

Me too. Can’t say a bad word about the place. Their wildlife programs were/are top notch. One of my roommates started his undergrad there and just finished up his PhD in ornithology at Texas A&M.

Ken always had great stories about when he was competing, coaching at Clarion and growing up. I used to run into him at NW AA Regionals every year. My favorite Ken story in short is when we went to Newport News, VA for a tournament and there was a bad ref and Ken happened to be in the coaches corner for one of my teammates. Ken rode him like a rented mule about his calls to the point where the official barked out “Do you wanna ref this match?!” Ken obliged and started sarcastically (and loudly) officiating the match from his chair

We have a 2-day commuter camp around this way. Heading north to make weight about a week from now.

that may have been the biggest win of my HS life.... wrestling in a post season tourney -Jr year - and beat the infamous Ken Nellis (from Shaler) in a match. I think I took second. Didn't really know who I was wrestling at the time... I came off the mat and our local writer for The Progress told me who he was. That was a great guy - Jim Butler - rip. He was good

I see Melvin Miller is registered at 165. It makes me wonder what weight he will start at in college. He may still jump a few weight classes, but who knows?

PA 16U and JR girls are cleaning up at Fargo.

Will Henckel’s sister, Sarah (wrestling for Team Connecticut), is in the finals at JR 155lbs.

Taina Fernandez (MD) won two Fargo titles in the same day as she tech’d or pinned every one of her opponents en route to the finals at 16U 135 and JR 135. She then posted twin 11-0 TF’s in both finals matches

Taina is a beast. I didn’t realize she was U17 eligible still. Many world medals in her future

Some notes on guys' weight changes-
Herring is at 138 (was registered at 132) (weighing 137)
Regan is at 132 (was registered at 126) (weighing 131)
E. Uhorchuck is at 138 (was registered at 132) (Weighing 132.2 OOF)
There will be a bunch of others but these ones quickly jumped out to me

138 is really stacked, Herring could pick up some big wins (Has Raney, Wolbert, Cortez, DeKraker, Anderson and more)

Holy Weight Change Batman!
The Little Cass Brothers were registered at 138 (Rocco) and 144 (Bruno)
They are entered at 144 (Rocco) and 157 (Bruno)- both weighing within a pound of the weight!

Brackets on the new USAW bracketing system only (not on Arena). Accessible by registration only. Nearly unfindable if you don't have the link from Flowrestling. (As an aside, past brackets are unsearchable in this platform. You are welcome to scroll through 100 pages of a listing in date order).

Streaming on Arena with no dashboard. No link between the two platforms, making following along as the event proceeds not impossible, but extremely difficult.

Am I in an alternative universe where the leadership of wrestling actually wants to discourage following the premier events?????? Perhaps they are trying to promote a return to glory of the Amateur Wrestling News and waiting for results to be published in print weeks later.

For a sport that has an awful lot of smart guys involved, the smart guys seem to shy away from the promotion side of the sport, especially at the HS level, where it has the biggest audience. Leaving the provincial idiots in charge.

It's really hard to fathom that I had an exponentially easier time following Fargo 5 years ago than I do now. Possibly the only sport/event/newsworthy item in the entire world where this is the case. Amazing.

@WillieTheBrain can't you get someone to bankroll a buyout the money grubbers that have long dominated the USAW scene and rid us of this infamia??

I gave up trying to watch. Much too difficult to figure out and by the time Flo mat loads, I've missed the match.

As Dice says above, it is very difficult to find matches and follow along. Almost like they are trying to make it hard. I don’t understand why it has to be this hard.

USAbracketing takes a long time to get used to and makes it nearly impossible to watch without having it open in an adjacent tab. I feel sorry for anyone who has not been using it since the US Open because it is a brutal learning curve

Peasants! Be grateful we haven't brought back the ball grab. Yet.
