The SEC is scheming against us. 1st the officials and now night games are not allowed due to the intimidating atmosphere. 🙄
I know we are making fun but wait till we tie with Florida or TA&M or someone like that, we will see who the conference chooses for the nicer Bowls.

With all due respect, Carolina fans have been talking about the intimidation of night games for years. Most visiting teams perform well during those night games. This is more of a myth than anything else.

Most visiting teams perform well against us night or day. Now do we perform better at night? I think we do.

I'm fine with it. Got some friends going with Mrs. ClusterCock and me and they've never been before. We can make the trip up and back and not have to stay overnight.

It's better than a noon kick but night would have been better. Is a night game the great equalizer? No. But we would need every little advantage we can get in this one.

I mean we were just given the SEC game of the week slot. It was the best game of the weekend, so we got the 3:30 game...
We're on ESPN, not ABC. Auburn @ UGA - The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry - got the SEC Game of the Week on ABC.

EDIT - oops...it's between the hedges

We have taken some of our worst beatings at night though. A Florida game when Spurrier was still in Gainesville comes to mind. We couldn't make the Gators punt. 63-17 comes to mind too. To me, we have had just as many big wins in the day as night. Alshon's catch against Alabama was in the day. Lattimore's coming out against Georgia was a 12:00 start. Personally, I like the 3:30 time slot when it is not too hot.

Florida boat-raced us in Columbia on a cold, windy, miserable night that I thought might slow them down a little bit. Wuerffel eviscerated us. I think it had rained during the day. It was a monumental @$$-kicking.

Also, don't forget the 1988 Saturday night 59-0 Florida State humiliation on national television with Ellis at QB and coming off a good win at NC State. The Seminoles removed any illusions that we were anything but impostors at football.

The 3:30 time slot is great - tailgating before and after the game.

True but I was speaking of this team, this year, to date. Thought I worded it that way, maybe not. Interesting thought though... overall play at night vs day, coach by coach. Dont know of a stat for that. Didnt really want to go here but given our overall record of .510, no doubt both will have their losses. Id be willing to bet night games fare better. Curious how much though

3:30 is my favorite time for kickoff. Get there early for tailgating, have plenty of time to cook, drink, eat, watch some of the early games before heading to the stadium. Game is over around 7:00 so we can get home at a decent hour.

The night game advantage is a total myth.

There was a 45-zip in the heat of the night also...

I was at the Florida game you referenced. I believe it was November 11, 1995. It did rain earlier that day and then a cold front moved in. Windy and the temperature was dropping. And we were getting blown out. It was miserable. Left early that night! 🥶

I remember Wuerffel during warmups being photographed with his helmet off. Florida was pushing him for the Heisman, which he subsequently won. I was amazed how little they allowed the rough night to affect their execution (not at all). They were impervious to the wind and cold; I was not.

I attend church on Sunday mornings. My buddy from up the street, who attends the same church, got home after the game at 1:30 a.m. I've reached the point where the thrill is gone regarding night football.

The Mrs. and I left that game about ten minutes into the second half and retreated to the comfort of California Dreamin where the broadcast was on the tvs in time to see Spurrier run a fake field goal up by 35-40 points.

Minor perspective: For those with young kids, 3:30 is a terrible time. Noon works well bc you can get the game in with lunch and then it’s off in plenty of time before supper, baths, etc. Night games work bc you’re done with supper and it’s getting on towards kids bedtime. 3:30 runs smack into supper/bath time and just complicates the evening.

I remember more pleasant night games most.... Georgia comes to mind with the Ace punt return.... and that night game against #5 ole miss... It was so loud.
