Has anyone watched this yet? Very interesting, the marketing of the team by the NBA which led to the creation of the WNBA. I was not aware of the popularity of the team that made the names Lisa Leslie, Dawn Staley, and Rebecca Lobo synonymous with Women's basketball. The team and coaches apparently took 8 months off from their day jobs to barnstorm the country and the world in preparation for the Games. They went 58-0, with just a few close calls.

Watched it and really enjoyed it. Dawn has been involved in so much with WBB over her lifetime.

Was wondering since they briefly interviewed Nikki, has anyone heard how she is doing?

Yeah it was done really well. I never knew how much pressure was on them, in that their success would be the ultimate deciding factor on if there will be a league in the US backed by the NBA. The pressure plus the personal sacrifice of these women had changed 1000s of lives for the past 25 years. I'm not so sure I or many others would give up making $300k a year overseas in 1996 for only $50k and not even a guarantee that they'll get league of it.

Fine. So don't watch. No need to comment either. I hate to see a fine young jackanape like yourself waste his (or her) time having to read through comments about a sport you care nothing about.
I think I will comment where I see fit, now go pound sand

I watched one girls game in high school. It was brutal to watch. The final score was something like 12-8. Girls basketball has apparently come a long way.
Lol. I’ve got a daughter and let’s just say I hung around these games just being a good dad and supporting her…. But even she knows girls sports is like watching paint dry

The girls game has come a long way since I was in HS. It used to be nothing but a bunch of turnovers and jump balls.

When was the last time you watched a "girls" sport? Maybe your daughter was playing half-court rules with no dribbling allowed as was the case 50 years ago. If that is the case, I understand your boredom. But this is the 21st century grandpa, the rules have changed.

Lol, daughter grad a 2 years ago. I know what watching paint dry looks like my dude. If you are in any way sensitive over what I said, maybe choose another board to watch. But again, if you don’t like what I say, go pound sand somewhere else.!

Eight out of 20 responses to a thread about Olympic WBB. Keep up the good work, my friend!

Yeah, we have bypassed the original discussion to an adult-child conversation. Go play in the street kid
The topic is the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary about the 1996 Olympic team. I found it very informative and really enjoyed. For some reason you seem to want to let everyone know how much knowledge you have about paint drying.
