Interception Giftopolous!

Was a senior in high school. It was the greatest time of my life! I remember at the end of the game after Bob Costas said, "So long," there was a Bell of Pennsylvania commercial. It was only shown once ever... They had two footballs next to one another... A Miami football and a Penn State football. There was a #1 sign over the Miami football. Then, the Miami football started to deflate as you could hear the air coming out of it and the #1 sign went over and above the Penn State football. The male voice simply said... Congratulations from Bell of Pennsylvania! I get chills just remembering that moment. Does anyone here have that on video? I have looked for years and cannot find it anywhere. Thanks!

On the last play, I knew we would hold. I was 100% sure we would hold, and told my father-in-law as much. So gratifying.

That was the first PSU game I ever attended. It was such a great experience. Went to Devil House (adjacent to Sun Devil Stadium) after the game and drank with the ASU fans there, who had just won the Rose Bowl.

Felt bad for Vinny Testaverde, though. Not.

Wow, how time flies. I was a sophomore at PSU. The year before they played for the NC too. Great memories.

Also, it needs to be said that a subject line of “14-10 Fiesta Bowl was 35 years ago today” would have lead to at least 25 responses by now. I myself opened this thread by accident.

They interviewed him after the game and asked him if he kept the ball. Pete ( a native Canadian) replied "No, that would have cost me 50 dollars. That's 75 dollars Canadian".
I suspect that, with such an attitude, he never had the financial problems that plague many athletes.

I to remember that commercial and have looked for it many times with no luck. That was a great game and one HELL of a party night afterward.

I was in SW Florida watching at my parents. Heard a lot from Miami fans before the game. Not so much after. :) 😁

I had a friend who disliked Penn State and was the kind of guy who was never wrong about anything. Before: “Miami is going to kill Penn State.” After: “I knew that with Paterno Penn State would always have a chance.”

My first PSU game also. My friend who lived in Selma, Alabama called me up and said do you want to go to the game. I said sure. He picked me up north of New Orleans and we drove straight through with a JoePa cardboard cutout looking out the back window. He was in the media so we got to attend some of the functions one of which was the NYE's media party and I was dancing on the floor next to JoePa and SuePa. Hooked on Penn State football ever since. Grew up in western Pa where our television channels came out of Youngstown, Oh. Therefore, BigTen was always on the TV and not PSU or Pitt unless it was a national game.

Will we experience another moment like that in our lifetime?

Miami had arguably the best offensive talent of any college football team ever. This game showed how a great Defensive Coordinator can win a football game almost single-handedly.

Jimmy Johnson did his team no favors.
