Then went on quite the tear.

39 years ago, we lost to: Livingston, St Francis, OM and Ark State early on...and bounced back for a good season

Get out of here with that crap. We have won a national championship so now we are entitled to never lose again and we should fire the coach who led us to that only championship if we do lose a game! His name should be erased from our glorious history of almosts if he fails to win the championship within the first week of every season.

Man, you sent me down memory lane there.

There is some amazing **** on Hailstate.com. Check out the handwritten box score from that game. This would have been that Palmeiro kid's first college game. He needed no instruction...

I was there. Never missed a home game during the week and most weekends. I wish I had a DeLorean to go back

16 years ago we were #1. Lost a game similar to yesterday to La Tech. Completely collapsed and SHOULD have missed the NCAAs but LT got us in.

This goes both ways. Yesterday shows me we aren’t heading in the right direction, especially with the mental part.

That 2B dance needs to stop too. All the BS has to go away until our travel ball spoiled rotten paper warriors toughen up.

And I agree, still baseball is a funny game. We could go on a 15 game roll and dominate and forget yesterday...and we could let this destroy us mentally and have another 2022. If that does happen, our new AD will need to test is nad strength and clean house. Gonna try stay positive until after Spring Break. By then, we need to be playing MSU baseball.

Def. see your point, but I DO try to stay optimistic early bc it is Bulldog Baseball. We do not have Thunder and Lightning or the deep pitching of the early/mid 80's.

We didn't know Thunder and Lightning were Thunder and Lightning in February 1983.

And Brantley wasn't quite Brantley just yet.

Winkler was the star of that team to start. It developed from there.

I dunno.... I try not to get too upset over one bad loss in baseball, especially in the opening weekends. In the past 50 years, only two championship teams have a loss column with single digits, and I’m quite certain you can find some head scratching losses in just about every single one of those championship teams.

Our 2021 championship had an early loss to a Kent State team that barely finished over .500 and lost a series to a Missouri team that finished 15-36.

It’s baseball. Sнit happens. I’m willing to let it go a few more weeks before I start sounding the alarms.

Seems like we lost to Delta St. once or twice back in the day too. However, they had some real good teams during that stretch.

Hell, we lost to JSU once (maybe twice?) back in the day.

Just referencing back to 2021 and lost to Tulane at home on Feb 26 and lost to Kent State at home March 6 and also got swept by Arkansas, the. a lot of people were ready to pack it in. Baseball is a long season so no reason to get worked up about a loss in Feb.
