equals 408, PSU's slot in the latest Forbes ranking of colleges and universities:
We Are.....408
No word on whether PSU plans to appeal this ranking.

If I recall correctly, and I wouldn't swear to it 100%, but I think FORBES uses Out of State tuition costs in their comparatives database for Public Schools.I guess they aren’t a fan of our tuition (tied, of course, to ROI).
F*ck us.
Near term pain. Wait until PSU moves up to 399 next year. We'll celebrate then.Ouch

But, what about DEIB? Doesn't that count for something?
But, what about DEIB? Doesn't that count for something?
Have to have it for it to count, right? I believe there are more international students at UP (undergrad) than black students.
Neeli and the bot laugh at ourtankingranking. High out-of-state tuition is a point of pride. PSU is for trust-fund kids, not kids from the hood.
We may be ranked 408, but our students smell better.
About twice as many I believe, although some of the international students are black.$$$$
Most recent data supplied by PSU.Have to have it for it to count, right? I believe there are more international students at UP (undergrad) than black students.
Maybe an interesting anecdote/tidbit/coincidence:Neeli has to be elated at this ranking, we have no place to go than up.
She was smart to get out of there. Coinkydink?Maybe an interesting anecdote/tidbit/coincidence:
There is only one major university (P5 conference - or even a university that the average person might know exists) that is ranked below PSU.
That is Louisville - the previous job on Dr Bendapudi's CV.
Neeli has to be elated at this ranking, we have no place to go then ot up.
She was smart to get out of there. Coinkydink?
The best defense is a good offense.I’m guessing PSU’s leaderers are critical of Forbes’ criteria. We just aren’t built for Forbes’ ranking with their flawed criteria. Stay the course.
And why is this a problem? Are we not accepting qualified black students who've submitted an application?Have to have it for it to count, right? I believe there are more international students at UP (undergrad) than black students.
Curious where Florida State is in comparison to its Barron helm and Post Barron helmOuch

This is nice data. I just ran some quick number and found:
This is nice data. I just ran some quick number and found:
Black applicants submitted 8,777 applications and have a 49% admission rate with a 11% enroll rate.
International applicants submitted 13,801 applications and have a 48% admission rate with a 13% enroll rate.
White applicants submitted 46,152 applications and have a 45% admission rate with a 29% enroll rate.
Conclusions: Not many black students apply to PSU. Those that do apply have a very high admittance rate (only hispanics have a higher admission rate). Of those admitted, very few actually enroll.

When throwing a party I usually stop inviting those that never show up.
This board isn’t an indication of that and looking down smugly at others is why the media crucified Joe and PSU.I've maintained much of my enthusiasm for Penn State football, but I'm starting to lose some of that. I now think a lot of it was that I took pride in the University's academic standing as well. Now, Penn State appears to be nothing more than those school's we use to smugly look down upon as mere football factories. The one bright light is that if this board is any indication, the alumni base is not going to stand for this much longer.
That’s part of it. Combine that with the lack of financial aid that other schools seem to be able to find and you have the magic formula. We’re too country.
