The ratings are from a kickers/punters/long snappers school, but he is very, very good. Will be a PWO this year. We've got
our guys back so he'll have a chance to grow even more. His name is Peyton Argent.

Yeah, I believe there’s a whole separate rating system for kickers.

Looks like just the kind of kicker you would expect to land when you are known as one of the best special teams programs in the country. Success begets success.

Took the words out of my mouth. I lived in TN at the time Leavitt committed to us. As much as it can be in recruiting kickers, it was a big deal to steal him from UT. Anyway, he didn’t pan out.
He’s the one player that best personifies the Brad Scott experience.

I guess Leavitt is still in the Columbia area. His daughter plays soccer at Hammond. On Twitter, he's still highly supportive of USC.

Then he is either making really good money or his daughter is one heck of a player that is on "scholarship."

Wasn't Marty Simpson a 5*? Seems like his problem was college ball had just removed the place kicking tee.

Here's some stuff from Marty's site. More in the link.

Marty's Playing Days

Marty Simpson with the Gamecocks

South Carolina Gamecocks 1991-1995
Columbia, SC

Marty started 44 games for the USC Gamecocks from 1991-1995. He was the leading scorer in 1992 while making 12 field goals that season (including a 50 yarder and two 46 yarders.) He also handled all punting and kick-off duties in the 1992 campaign, downing 28 punts inside the 20 yard line while having zero touchbacks recorded. He kicked off into the endzone for touchbacks a dozen times as well. He recorded the fourth longest punt in school history with a 79 yarder versus Vanderbilt.

Marty is also the answer to a great trivia question. That question is, "Who scored the first six points for USC after entering the S.E.C.?" Answer: Marty Simpson versus Georgia in 1992. The Gamecocks would take the lead 6 to zero on a pair of Simpson field goals, only to go on to lose that game 28 to 6.

Is he a comedian now?
