Playing boneheaded and meant the difference between winning and losing. Ought to be a teaching moment for anyone else who ever thinks about playing selfishly.

You shouldn't do that. There are a number of individual plays one could point to. What about throwing a pick when in field goal range when a check down receiver is wide open? We should also mention not protecting the ball deep in our own end. That ended up leading to a FG for them. Then there are the multiple missed tackles on #29 for them. As I said, it's too easy to point to only one play.

I think the OP is correct. I can't recall one player costing this team a win with such laser precision. He just kept looking for flags in the worst possible situations.

What did I miss? I didn't get to watch the last quarter of the game. I originally thought OP was talking about the horse collar in the first half.

Idiots, without #5 we would have not found ourselves in that position. He’s our best defender and made LSU think twice every play. To put any blame on him for playing wide open is completely uncalled for. If anything he deserves a game ball that should be mailed to the SEC office.

Actually I’m not done. This is so uncalled for. Shame on you for calling out our best defender ytd for a bs ref call trying to throw a game. Thank you Kyle Kennard!

I love #5. He's one hell of a ball player and made some huge plays today. However, he certainly lost his head in both of those late game situations. You have to keep your cool there and never do anything even resembling hitting the QB.

It's heartbreaking if you're a Gamecock and I'm sure nobody feels any worse than him right now. That being said we had 13 penalties for 123 yards and 3 turnovers. Death by 1000 self inflicted cuts today.

#5 cost us the game, no debate, the td is the difference 🇺🇸🏈
It was one of many plays that cumulatively cost the game. There were breakdowns offensively, defensively and special teams. Just like there were good things offensively, defensively and on special teams. To single out one player is not cool.

With Ashford at QB, think we needed to get him some easy pitch and catch plays. Let him utilize his legs to make plays and feed the horse Sanders.

Our defense was gassed but penalties prolonged drives whether it be ticky tack away from the ball penalties or the play on 5 you mentioned or lining up off sides on 4th and 3.

What I did see, in spite of non perfect play, was a lot of heart on all sides of the ball. At times our D dominated LSU’s vaunted line of scrimmage. Our edges that you slammed out a lot of pressure on the QB and forced errors. Our OL gave Sellers time to push the ball downfield.

Simply LSU made one more play than we did. Nothing more and nothing less.

I tell you what, if we miss a bowl game that unnecessary shove of the quarterback is going to loom incredibly large over our season. And maybe Beamers fate as a head coach.

Who cares about a bowl game? It’s the playoffs or go home these days. 3 games in and you are concerned about missing a low tier bowl game? What a loser mentality.

I think we'll care a lot about a bowl game when we're on the edge of 6 wins and the season is winding down.

Missing a bowl will be held against Beamer. Making a bowl, even a small one, is still better than missing one.

And i dont think we need to worry about the playoffs any time soon.

It would do Beamer well to show improvement over last year. Minimal improvement is making a bowl. Can't say I have ever not hoped to see improvement.

One of the first rules of coaching is to NEVER call out a player for a penalty when the penalty is the result of playing with fire and passion. Hard to turn it off and on in a game like this. Kennard is one of the key reasons our DL is wreaking havoc on opponents and he played one heck of a game.

The game changed drastically in the second quarter when we went to a three man rush. You cannot allow a quarterback of that caliber to have time and get comfortable! They scored 10 points in the quarter & made it a game.
That also took a lot out of our defense rytham👌

#5 played hard. Can’t put it all on one guy. That block on the QB was legal by the rule definition.

Don’t be a sht disturber. He played extremely well. Helped immensely in Q1. Hopefully the coaches do teach that if the D-end crashes to rush QB the take and Land need to protect the outside. That play was wide open on our overshot on the 2nd half. That was a good coaching adjust they made. Our over pursuit cost us. They block 5 made should so be a legal block. QB started charging. It was a medium sized shove and QB flopped dramatic style. Looked like a police drawing on the ground.

Flag could have been thrown on the QB for faking it, just saying.

We also didn’t have our starting QB for half of the game. Having him in probably would have been enough. We can’t lay it all on one player.
