Cue the folks who can't stay up or don't have a DVR...

Last night, the LV Bowl committee met to reduce the 4 B10 teams(PSU, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Minnesota) and 4 P12 teams (UCLA, Wash State, Arizona State, and Oregon State) down to 2 per conference. It appears they have eliminated Purdue and Minnesota from consideration.

According to this article, looks like its between Wisconsin and us for the Las Vegas Bowl but depends on where Michigan State lands. However, the article fails to acknowledge that it's really if Iowa or Michigan State gets into the NY6.

The Outback is not a possibility based on this article.

3 B10 teams in NY6
  • If Michigan wins B10, they are in the playoff. OSU is B10 replacement in Rose. MSU is at-large (if they stay at #11 or move higher)
    • Iowa goes to Citrus
    • Wisconsin to Outback
    • PSU to Las Vegas
  • If Iowa wins B10, they are in the Rose. OSU and Mich stay in top 12 and are at-large picks.
    • Michigan State to Citrus
    • Wisconsin to Outback
    • PSU to Las Vegas

2 B10 teams in NY6
  • This only occurs if Mich wins B10 and MSU falls outside the top 12.
  • MSU to Citrus
  • Iowa to Outback
  • Wisconsin to Las Vegas
  • PSU to Music City

JMHO- I'm thinking Pinstripe. Just because there is a LARGE portion of our fanbase that's reached at a certain age (over 40), and they would prefer not to stay up until 10:30 pm Eastern Time to see a menial bowl game. Then, get up and prepare to go to work the next day.

What if we end up in the Outback Bowl?
The Outback is very much a possibility. These bowl selections aren't done by the bowls picking in a specified order by themselves purely based upon the teams' final records. The picks are actually a collaborative (collusion) effort led by ESPN, the Bowls, and the conferences in determining the matchups based upon anticipated TV ratings, ticket sales, fan interest (travel), opponent match-up, and other subjective reasons.

It is very possible those three entities decide they would rather have PSU in the Outback and Wisconsin in the Las Vegas bowl and that is how it will go down, ignoring the 8-4/7-5 records. Yes, a bowl can select a team with one additional loss over another team. They just can't select a team with 2+ losses over another team.

agreed. Plus the head to head will help.
Also the one scenario that isn’t mentioned is 4 B1G teams in NY6. If Iowa upset s Michigan. We could get 4. That would move us up as well.

There is 0% chance for Outback. It will either be Iowa or Michigan State in Citrus and/or Iowa or Wisconsin in the Outback

Outback sucks. Would rather play a Pac 12 team in Vegas. Anyone who can't stay up until 1am to watch a football game has never lived overseas and known the joy of being six to twelve hours ahead of US EST.

The good old days when I was stationed in Scotland and trying to pick up AFRTS (a-farts) on AM radio.

The late start is cool - then again, I live in Oregon so I get an evening game rather than a breakfast game for a change.
