Monte Lee is the difference in our hitters offensive approach based on comments I've seen from the players. This is one reason why I liked seeing us win that last game the way we did. When we get to some of the bigger fields away from home (pitchers fields), instead of having three HRs in one game, we might have one HR in three games. Gotta keep it multi-dimensional. That said, we've been better at that than Kingston's previous teams I think, but we have also lost sight of it as the season goes on in the past as well. I'm hoping this team will be different.
We need to do whatever it takes to keep himMonte Lee is the difference in our hitters offensive approach based on comments I've seen from the players.
I can’t see how, but we should try to match any offer he gets! I would say there will be several power 5 schools come calling! We need to do whatever it takes to keep him
I like the fact that he has a long term relationship with RT. Also, he has a few years in the SC retirement system maybe? Not sure if employment with CofC, Clemson makes this assumption of mine true.We need to do whatever it takes to keep him
May be on Kingston. I might be totally off base but I kinda always thought this was a stop for Kingston before heading to the pros. Reason being I've always felt his launch angle stuff along with heavy lean toward analytics was more suited for the pro players rather than college. Just felt like that was his calling... could be wrong. That said, it wouldnt surprise me if after a good year here, he bolts if he gets the chance... but I have no idea of his ambitions or how bad he wants to turn the philosophy he came here with into a winner.I like the fact that he has a long term relationship with RT. I also believe he wanted the HC position before, but he couldn't wait out RT to make his decision on the Holbrook situation. Let's just say I heard the latter in a conversation during that time frame.
Also, who knows, maybe teams come for Kingston?
College coaching is not a stepping stone to become a MLB manager. Dick Howser is the only one I can think of who became manager of the Yankees after coaching at Florida State. Perhaps there are others. MLB wants to hire from within and reward their managers who come up through the minor leagues.May be on Kingston. Yeah, I was going to say it's a little late in his career to be thinking about MLB, analytics or not!College coaching is not a stepping stone to become a MLB manager. Maybe Kingston will want to check out the soon to be opening job at Clemson. (I mean that as a joke. Then again, maybe not......)
I hear ya. I just cant help but think he's like a fish out of water in the college game. Always have.College coaching is not a stepping stone to become a MLB manager. If memory is correct, Tanner mentioned Kingston was well respected among MLB peers when his hiring was announced.I hear ya. I just cant help but think he's like a fish out of water in the college game. Always have.
That makes a lot of sense. Kinda figured Kingston sold Tanner on his ability to bring in the latest trends in MLB when he was hired. It would stand to reason he has MLB connections. If memory is correct, Tanner mentioned Kingston was well respected among MLB peers when his hiring was announced.
yes CofC is state retirement time also.I like the fact that he has a long term relationship with RT. Also, he has a few years in the SC retirement system maybe? Not sure if employment with CofC, Clemson makes this assumption of mine true.
