I'm assuming that's just the guys coming in? We need a NET portal ranking that factors in who we lost.

We're 30 according to On3.

I think we've upgraded at QB, RB, LB, and DE. Downgraded at WR (I like the Oklahoma transfer, but we lost 2 good players) and CB. About same at OL, DT, and safety.
Until we know more about the incoming QB, I'd rank the loss of MBV as our second biggest loss. MVB is going to be very good it he keeps his head on straight.
Similar stats, but half of the FSU QB attempts were vs Miami and a red hot Florida team after the rest of his teammates had long since quit. And he'll be a much better team player and more responsible than Van Buren was. It's not whether Van Burn keeps his head on straight, it's whether he gets it on straight. Plus we get a healthy Shapen back (for how long though?). We upgraded.
Yeah I liked MVB but if he was worth his asking price, we would have beaten olemiss.
I'm not on the Shapen bandwagon at all. If he beats out the FSU transfer, look for another 2-10 season.
Yeah, I was looking through the 2024 portal classes for comparison's sake and whereas the average transfer class size for the Top 30 teams was 20.5 last year, it's just 14.8 in 2025.
We're mostly beating guys with sheer numbers at the moment, and this class feels a lot closer to 20 that it does to 7. Whatever the case, we didn't exactly go out and get a bunch of proven stars, so the million dollar question is going to be whether the coaching staff went out found pieces that will fit, and I guess we'll find out this Fall about that. I have some doubts
Well, we did need sheer numbers. But I do agree with your post in general.
I think we're getting about a half dozen players that should help us. After that, we're just taking numbers and hoping someone emerges. And some of them will. For example, we're taking four 3* edge pass rushers. Hopefully, one of them will help us.

He may not ever see the field at LSU, so we may never know the answer to this one.
I believe we probably still need more Linemen on both sides. We got some OL and DL to transfer, but this conference is primarily won in the trenches.
These days players only stay at a school for one season if not the starter. He'll get a chance.
I fear that some key pieces the coaching staff needed to be looking for was a coaching staff...
Only way he plays for LSU is if Nussmeyer gets hurt. He won't "get a chance" to beat him out. Wouldn't matter if he did though. He's not beating that guy out. He was brought in as the backup.
He will be starting at Cincinnati or some random school in two years. LSU is probably not going to be the best thing for him.
He got the bag and will get training from a top notch program, if 2026 doesn't look like his year, he'll probably move on. Unless he's like Spencer Sanders who gave up a starting role to be a back up for his final year, i still can't figure that one out. Certainly Spencer got paid well, but giving up his final year? Most have not gotten any offers remotely close to what OM paid him.

That's about where I am, and I know a lot of people will say "who cares about starters that we lost from a 2-10 team?", but the fact is that we did lose about a half dozen to the portal as well, and I just don't know how many in this incoming portal class are clear upgrades. Like you said, it seems like maaaaaybe we can point to 5-6 as likely, but I'm not seeing many sure things
