They handed out posters that night at all of the gates, still have mine. Seems like it outlined all of the new rules, I'll have to dig it out of the archives that also contain the "Maroon Is All That Matters" tshirt

That 2001 season is one of those MSU “hallmark” seasons that makes me never bank on hope.

The beginning of the end was 10/21/2000 at LSU. Blew 2 14-point leads and lost in OT. That was the day JLD defenses got exposed. It was all downhill from there.

Most of our "highlights" are games we lost. See: game of change.

Seems like there is always some real life gut punch that happens when State starts building momentum. 9/11 was another one of those years. I think most people and players didn't put football at the top of their list. Nothing wrong with that at all. Life is too precious.
I was there in the endzone bleachers. Hauled *** from Tuscaloosa to be there. Did not care if we won. It only mattered we were there.

Will never forget watching the beginning of this game on TV. Not the game itself but the pregame.

Unfortunately this game kicked off one of the most disastrous 5 game stretches in MSU sports history. We came into the game ranked in the Top 20 and then this happened consecutively:

South Carolina - L 14-16
Florida - L 0-52
Auburn - L 14-16 (last second field goal)
Troy State - L 9-21
LSU - L 0-42

We never recovered until the hiring of Dan Mullen over 8 years later.
