To those of you po'd about Congress getting involved with steroids and baseball, Mike Lopresti of USA Today feels your pain. Every Congressman needs this article emailed to them, maybe it will inspire them to get their head out of their ***. Part of the article is below:

The news reports from Los Angeles tell us the high school running back died three doors from his own home, killed Sunday while walking down the street, talking to his girlfriend on a cellphone.

The police theory, according to local media reports, from what the girlfriend overheard, is that when the gang members jumped out of their car and stopped him to ask his affiliation, he did not have a right answer. Matter of fact, he had no answer. He was in no gang.

So they gunned him down. His father, hearing the shots, rushed there in time to find his son dying on the sidewalk.

Someone had to call his mother to tell her that her 17-year-old was dead. The irony was acute. She is serving with the Army in Iraq, trying to stay out of harm's way amidst suicide bombers and terrorists in a deadly far-off land.

Meanwhile, her son is slain within sight of his own front door in Los Angeles.

Heard enough yet to be sick? I have.

I have said it on here before, and I will now say it again. The House Government Affairs Committee is the one that keeps having these hearings, and everyone else here in DC knows that it is a crock of ****. They do it because their committee does not have jurisdiction over anything, so they are allowed to hold hearings on whatever they want. Most of it is just so they can feel important and get an autograph for their grandkids. It is a colossal waste of taxpayer money, and a glaring example that there are wayyyyyyy too many members of the House. They have so many members that they do not have enough committees for them to serve on, so they basically just make up new committees that have no jurisdiction. The House does serve a purpose in our government, but not near as much as most people think. There are many members of the House that are not qualified to be the manager of Piggly Wiggly, much less be involved in decisions that impact the nation. All that can be said is, thank God for the Senate, as it is much more difficult for an idiot to get elected in a statewide election.
