"With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph -- so help us God."
From FDR's speech on 8 Dec 1941.

FDR asked Congress to declare war on Japan (not Germany or Italy). We were not at war with Germany until 10 Dec. 1941, when Germany declared war on the US. I consider this to be the biggest mistake Hitler made.

What the U.S. did in WW II is truly amazing. We fought, and won, a full out war in two theaters on the sea, on the land, and in the air. At the same time, we not only armed and supplied ourselves, we armed and supplied our allies.
By far, it was our greatest generation, and I recognize that even not being a part of that generation.

Truth to the thinking that we knew it was coming?
The link below will get you started. There has been a lot of good WWII revisionist history over the last 20-25 years with more still coming out.

Remembrance ceremony getting set up under the guns of the Pennsy this afternoon.

For those that aren’t aware, the PA Military Museum in Boalsburg is closing soon for a major renovation and refurb. At least 14 months it will be closed. Grounds, monuments and armor will still be open.

One of my greatest memories was meeting several members of Doolittle’s Tokyo Raiders. When I asked one of them what they were thinking when they signed up for the mission, he said, “Son. We weren’t thinking. We were just doing our jobs.” 🫡

Took the family to Hawaii a couple of years ago. Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona were two of the highlights of the trip. It's a very moving experience to be at that memorial.
Honeymooned in Hawaii in 95. Got off the plane in Honolulu and went straight to Pearl. Before the rehab of the base and the national park areas, we went past barracks that still had scars from the attack.

Went back in 2012 with kids and had a very good, educational experience. Much better presentation.

Going aboard the Arizona memorial was every bit as emotional as my visits to Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, Bastogne, Arnhem, Dachau and Auschwitz. The Greatest Generation, indeed.

Thanks Nitt. I'll be sure to look for it.
I think you will find it a great read. One of Prange's conclusions was that Gen Short (Army commander in Hawaii) and Admiral Kimmel were not at all on the same page in regard to defense, Kimmel thought the Army was there to protect the fleet in port, Short thought the Navy was there to protect his airbases.
