I recall in the early 80's PSU had a RB from Maryland named Skeeter Nichols. He had some really impressing runs spelling Warner in the Nebraska game back in '82. At the time I thought he was the "next big thing" at Penn State. It seems like through the rest of the National Championship Season he got less playing time then, pretty much dropped from sight. When the '83 season began Dozier took control at tailback and that was that. Does anyone remember Skeeter or what happened to him? Thanks...

I remember Skeeter very well. He was from MD IIRC. I was a PSU student at the time and had a few pretty good friends on the team. That was back in the days when football players had to live among the peasants. My friends told me many times that Skeeter was an NFL talent whose only problem was he was behind Curt Warner, Jon Williams and some other really good players. In his limited opportunities he always played very well. I think many do not understand how much talent those teams had. We had guys buried deep on the depth chart who could have been stars had they only gotten the chance. Not sure what eventually happened with Skeeter. I believe he graduated from PSU but don't quote me on that.
